just got off the phone with a user... complaining they can't see any new emails in their mailbox.

they said they see the "new email notification" pop up, but the email doesn't show in their inbox.

So i remote into their PC

and sure enough.. outlook is sorted by RECEIVED, with newest at the top... At the top is a folder called TODAY... and of course... it's MINIMIZED.

i hit the PLUS sign.. and WHAMMO!!

35 unread emails.

Blame software companies for making UIs too complicated for people who don't steep themselves in computers 24 hours a day, not the users.

i wonder how often mechanics tell stories... or doctors... or teachers who read people's work.

As an ex-mechanic I can tell you that sys admins have it easy with regards to users saying stupid shit.

Edit - also, mechanics have to deal with way more know-it-all asstards. If you know so much about your car, why are you bringing it to me to fix, joo n00b?

Yeah those plus signs are really hard to work out if you have never been on a computer before :|

It doesn't take 24 hours a day to figure out you can sort emails by whatever you want in Outlook. That takes 30 minutes and a brain. Time is abundant, brains are... scarce to say the least.

Normally I would agree, but these guys LIVE in outlook all day. It is probably their second most used application.
God forbid they check their spam-Quarantine
Oh, you aren't getting emails from blackinches@anandtech.com? Maybe you should remove that address from your blocked senders!
