I find it calming - the storms here in the US just seem so much more docile than when I live in Panama - where my house got struck more than 6 times.

but i agree lightning is interesting to watch. we don't get any lightning here though...
 
lightning late night is very calming... and pretty!!

The very best is lightning during snowstorms. I have only seen them a few times, but there is nothing as beautiful to watch...
