Here is another:-
Fake SAS soldier, Roger Day
Fantasist wore haul of fake medals on Remembrance Day march 'to impress his young wife'

A bogus soldier who marched at a Remembrance Day parade with an array of medals he could not possibly have won has admitted fabricating his military career to impress a woman 24 years his junior.
Roger Day, 62, bragged about his bravery on the battlefield to seduce Maxine Day, 38, after they met at an opera club in early 2000.
But Day got 'carried away with the fantasy' and continued making up stories so that he could be the 'hero figure' for the new love who was to become his third wife.

Real seals do look fat out of water, but they swim like torpedoes.
Alas, the blubber-gut you show has probably eaten more burgers than herring.
Jump wings!? Jeez, he would have fallen fast.

Makes me sick :(

I could see myself in my earlier years dressing up fully in various gear looking totally legit as I was in shape as well.

My entire family history is all military and my father was a Drill Sgt.

But to claim to really be one! Hell no.

It's silly, but the worship of military in this country motivates not only the reason these people do it, but also emboldens the anger and righteousness of those who "hunt" for it. IMO.

Analogous, but not identical; it seems that rock-solid journalist Brian Williams claimed to have been in a Chinook which was downed by enemy fire in Iraq in 2003. He has been dining out on the story for many years.
Apparently he was not only NOT in the downed helicopter but was not even in the one behind. According to Daily Mail reports he arrived in another flight of Chinooks about an hour later.
Yet another case of "nearly a hero" syndrome.

Was it Michael Herr "Dispatches" who referred to Vietnam war journalists "covering the conflict from 'Mahogany Ridge'"? In other words, from the bar of the nearest 5 star hotel.
I suppose Williams at least left the bar. Some credit surely due.

Don't they refer to fellows who do this as a "Walt"?
There used to be an AT member who claimed to be special forces and someone did some digging and proved it was all bs. I can't remember who it was though.

lol Brian Williams was never rock solid to begin with. Look who he worked for. And he was just one small fish in a sea of iraq war lies. What does it matter that the truth come out now? The sheeple bought it all, at the time. Now that they got their 4 million dead / displaced Iraqis, and they got their ISIS future demon to slay, what does it matter if a little bit of truth comes out? It wont change anything. It will make some folks feel like chumps for about two seconds, but then they will go right back to lapping up the droppings of the corporate media.

JohnOfSheffield or something like that was the guy here - he had other names at other forums though (and perhaps here as well). Guy probably was in someones military at some point, it's just extremely unbelievable he was SAS, much less a SAS captain, as he claimed (among other things).

His posts were always good reading though, entertaining! :D

I guess in North Korea it's real though, heh.

That is one ridiculous looking excuse for someone trying to look like a Master Gunny, I must say.

Maybe he had a mess hall MOS, could almost see that happening somewhere, but nah, too much other.

Man no, I don't remember ever running across him. Although, it is interesting that in that first link he's talking about muscles, he's a swede, and he's a major. The rank thing is exactly what JOS did here, and I remember someone here linking to a bodylifting thread on another site where it was JOS going by another alt like 'powerswede' or something like that. One can only wonder just how many alts that guy has had here...

Me going off on JOS is the one and only infraction (outside of the whole email address deal for FS/FT) I have ever received. :D

I don't have the opportunity to get out much, so really I'm all for these entertaining people who post continuing to do so - it is good entertainment available via the home. :D We only have a couple really good mind F'd folks here who consistently deliver said entertainment, so I'm sorta bummed JOS isn't posting here anymore (at least that we know about)... :(

Haha exactly, that's why I hate it when these entertaining folks who post get chased off, it really dilutes the entertainment level of the forums.
