They look very nice though.

edit: spelling error

I havent had any direct experience with DELL's large LCDs, .. but my guess is, they are as good, if not better? ... I should stop using this.. i am getting spoiled... -_-;

I've not used any of the Apple LCD's personally, but I love my Dell 2005FPW. I wouldn't hesitate to buy the 24" one if I had the money to burn. 😛

I believe they are pretty much the same. I think Anand wrote an article on the two. Samsung, I think supplied the lcd display for both Apple and Dell.

Edit: corrected statement,

Quote from LCD shootout.

Though both the Apple and Dell 20" displays use the same LG.Philips LCD LM201W01 panel, Apple and Dell seem to differ (at least in terms of marketing) on several specifications including response time, contrast ratio and brightness. Granted, Dell and Apple use different backlights that may account for the 50 nit difference. On the other hand, Apple hardware is traditionally listed with slightly conservative specifications. Part of our review process is to evaluate these specifications anyway - and since these are nearly identical displays, it will be very easy for us to verify which model has the more accurate listed specifications.

The problem with Dell is build quality. I went through 4 2005FPWs before I had to just give up and return it. An Apple LCD will more than likely be free from most defects/QC issues that other makers have, simply because they spend more to make sure their stuff works. Quality and image are more important to Apple, which is reflected in the price.

Thats the main gripe I had with Anandtech's shootout. What he should have done is bought 5 of each, spread out over a month. I will never buy another Dell product again, as I can't trust the quality.

can you elaborate on the issues that you had?

I am seriously thinking about 2005FPW. the screen is simply amazing. (at least the apple one is ). and 2005FPW's price might just fit my needs 🙂

watched some movie trailors 🙂 EVEN pos movie like transporter2 was enjoyable 😀

The warrior seems interesting. An indian movie(my uneducated guess..) WITHOUT GROUP DANCING?! you must be mad!

Yes, please elaborate. I was thinking of getting the 2005FPW to go with my Powermac G4. 🙂

MustangSVT, the transporter 2 sucked???? 🙁 I was going to watch it soon.

I've had my 2005FPW for about three months now and have had absolutely no problems with it. I even checked for dead pixels and didn't find any. I absolutely love the thing.

Dell 2005FPW > *

2005fpw owns me. I  mine

I went into our computer lab (NCSU) and every single computer had a 2005FPW connected to it. There must have been at least 40 of them. I was in heaven.

I've got a 2405FPW. Being able to buy 2 for the price of one 23" Apple Display is all I need to hear (though I only have one).

I do wish it had dual dvi ports for my powerbook and PC though.

The 23" ACD has been known for display problems (mostly a pink stripe going down the right side of the display.

Be forewarned and be like me, research before you covet. =0)
