I love this Linux but have a couple of questions.

I just installed Mandrake 7.2 last night on a extra HD I had. Went pretty smooth. Took me a while to figure out how to setup my DSL, but I got it. The questions I have are this.

1. When using the Netscape that came with Mandrake 7.2, the fonts seem to be really bad and in some caese too small to read. Like when I came to this site, I could hardly read the forums. Why is that? Is there a setting that I can do to correct this? or is this just Linux?

2. I noticed that there was a second ISO that I could download that contained extra goodies. Is this where I will find KDE 2??? I noticed that Mandrake 7.2 said that it came with KDE 2 but I only see the option for KDE.

Thanks for hearing me out....

if you burn the isos for most distributions of linux the cd should be bootable.

ive read about the fonts issue with linux and netscape search around here, i am sure youll find the answer to you prob. also, the mandrake site should tell you where to get kde 2, although ive never heard of it, ive only used kde.

I am rather unfamiliar with mandrake, but there should be a window manager, which you can adjust your fonts. you can also select the second ISO character set in netscape, that will make the fonts larger while browsing.

There is a True Type Font RPM somewhere (I don't remember where I found it) that worked wonders... I need to "find" it again... Try looking on freshmeat.org and search for true type and see what you get...

Netscape uses your system fonts in linux so if you have your windows drive mounted, you can use some of your windows fonts. Just use DrakFont to search your windows partition for fonts, and then install them. After they are installed, go into netscape preferences, select font, then select Verdana as your font. This is by far the best looking font I have found so far.. If you don't want to do that just download netscape 6.0 which has better looking fonts than netscape 4.7.
