Got the thermalright XWB-1 in!!! Finally. I've got tons of pictures but, here are just a few along with my first impression.
Parts
First of all the barbs. They are large enough to seal on 1/2" ID tubing but, replace them, quickly. My gauge is out of commission, as I just found out but, I'll pick up a new one in about an hour when home depot opens so I can give measurements but, just by eyeballing it, I'd say the ID of the outside of the barb is about 3/8" and the ID of the bottom end, can't be much more than 1/4". That'll be great for velocity but, flow is going to be stifled.
Barbs
The mid plate has be pretty specifically designed to directionalize flow but, it's so small that again, flow is going to be so cut. The pictures on hardwarecannuks website really don't tell the whole story. I'll be either making a new mid-plate or making a whole new top half. I'll be seeing what I can do with the stock top and mid-plate before I start from scratch. Image below is the bottom of the block, the smallest ring is the opening from the top to bottom, the larger ring is the pad and shows how far the liquid is going to have to travel before it can go back up through to the top half.
Base
The pad on the mid-plate isn't a half bad idea but, the ID of the opening between the top and bottom at the intake is down-right pitiful. This all may work out well on a CPU only block but, at this point I don't even see the point in sending this to MartinM210@XS. The pressure drop is gong to be HUGE. I'm likely to say F-it-all and just make a new top.

Thus far. Yeah, It's more restrictive than I would have like for my purposes. I'll test it out once I get my pump all sealed back up but, I have a feeling I'll be modifying it.

Long update for yall here. Did some flow testing and found that in stock trimming it was cutting my 6.25gph free flowing pump down to about 1gph and the pressure drop was incredible! So I bored out the barbs, being cheap and all, to the biggest I was comfortable going, 3/8" and WOW, flow is up about 50% to about 1.5gph and the pressure drop is substantially less! here is a picture of the bored out barb next to the stock barb, they're not exactly the same quality or size but, you can get the idea. Stock form was 17/64" exactly.
