I'm lovin my CVT in my Altima. Beats the crap out of those old GM 4-sp autos in my previous cars

All depends on the programming, imo. Even among GM's, some cars will kick down and accelerate hard with very little effort. Some will absolutely refuse to downshift at most cruising speeds (or only one gear when it's already one too high).

First thing that I can think of...who did the TCM in the Vibe...Toyota, I'd guess? Gawd, that thing has the worst shift strategy...it's basically- at less than half throttle, shift into fourth by 20mph. If you're at at least 2500rpm, don't downshift at WOT. End software code. Congrats, your 130hp (iirc on the base) now feels like 65.
