I love selling books on Half and Amazon

I've made $90 in the past four days, and all I have to do is get rid of my old textbooks that I didn't want anyway.

Definitely better than waiting in line at the bookstore.

😀

I was thinking of selling some old books on there but didn't think they would sell. They're college books about 2-3 years old and I don't think anyone would want them. How much does it cost to put books up for sale?

Doesn't cost anything to put them up for sale. Amazon and Half take commissions when they sell, so there's no risk if the books don't sell.

Commissions are 15% for items under $50 at Half.com, and the same for Amazon. Not a bad deal. I sold a book that I bought for $10 new last semester for $7.99 + a $2 shipping credit. I don't even think the bookstore would take it back, since the class isn't being offered this semester.

how does it work from the sellers point of view? do you send the book to amazon? do you have any contact with the buyer?

I sold a book that cost me $89 new for $65. I should have priced it higher, but I just wanted to get rid of it. It was one of the worst books I've ever had. I barely cracked it all semester, but that's partly because the class was run by an idiot too. 😉

I send the buyer an email every time I sell something that includes a delivery confirmation number. Since I'm sending via Media Mail, shipping is cheap. I send the book directly to them, and my earnings get direct deposited into my checking account (both Amazon and Half have my account and routing numbers).

Does it works for amazon.ca ? Is it a US only service ?... because I have like 50 University grade books to sell and it would be amazing to get rid of them !

Dunno...check out Amazon.ca to see if you can sell used stuff on there. It's great though, I absolutely love it.

Which reminds me...I could probably make a pretty penny selling off my old stuff too. I gotta get around to that.
