I love my new Zalman 9500 LED!

The first time I built a PC I used a Thermaltake cooler that was louder than the stock intel I was using. That's when I first heard of Zalman. I immediately switched and have been a Zalman guy since. Every PC I've built, for friends or for sale, has been built with a zalman cooler.

Right now I'm pushing my X2 4800+ from 2400 to 2700. A few hours ago, it was reaching 63-64c under full load with a CNPS-7000B LED. I just got home, opened my box from Newegg and installed the very beautiful, very quiet, and very efficient 9500 LED.

I'm running Prime95, Torture test and the highest the CPU will go is 49-51c. Idle sits around 34-38c

I'm very happy with those results. That's 13c lower for me, and on top of that, it looks amazing. It's very beautiful, which matters to me as much as the performance. (side window)

Go Zalman!

nice, i have an X2 4800+ also. i was thinking of either the si-120, cnps7700CU, ninja, and the 9500.
My idle temps with the stock amd hsf and stock cpu speeds is anywhere from 15-27C depending on the outside temp; i have a rear intake drawing outside air from window (instead of exhaust) and a duct that blows the intake air onto cpu hsf. The only thing holding me back from getting an aftermarket hsf is because theyre all too tall to use in conjuction with my duct.

Edit: maybe i can buy that 7000b from u?

OP: I love mine too. Someday I may try to replace the fan, but for now I'm good.

uhaulball: you should consider the SI-120 if you're going to use it with a duct. With the top-mounted fan you should be able to mate the fan to the duct better than the others. Only 90mm high (without fan, use a 92x25mm fan if worried about height). XP-90 is 75mm high without fan.

EDIT: XP-120 is only 63mm tall.

Thats a VERY impressive drop in temps from the 7000 to the 9500. Do you think it might be because of a better thermal interface application? Or do you think its actually that the HS is that much more efficient?

I'd say that the HS is a much better piece overall. The fact that the fan now blows air sideways, front to back, helps a lot!

I also forgot to mention that this thing is twice as big and only half the weight of my older cooler!

I'm into "funky" heatsinks - always have arguements with a friend of mine because he won't use any HSF that doesn't look "normal." :p Even though I don't need another HSF, I'd get a 9500 if it were cheaper. Most expensive HSF I bought was a Thermalright XP-120 around when it came out with a Panaflo for about $85 after tax and shipping. I told myself after that, "no more." Most expensive since then was a Scythe Ninja that I scored for about $42 shipped. I figure around that much is what I'm willing to pay for top notch, especially when some of the AMD CPUs come with such nice HSFs already. Hmmm, I think I'm gonna score me some of those retail box heatpipe units from eBay for $15 shipped... just for the heck of it.

thats a nice feature....goes straight out the back into the exhaust fan

(that big silver bullet shaped thing)
It is being used with a the new AMD stock hsf right now. as you may be able to tell, the stock HSF is already basically as high of a heatsink with fan that i can use right now. The only other aftermarket HSf i know that will fit with the duct is the zalman 7000b. As you stated, the xp-120 is 63mm tall without fan. The 7000b is 62mm WITh fan. even tho it lacks heatpipes, i think a 7000b with a fan would perform better than an xp-120 without a fan.

haha he has an intake fan blowing air against the cpu fan. dont u know your science. u can't have 2 fans blowing against each other. anything with rear and intake in the same sentence is noob

I've got 2 orderred. Not only does it cool the CPU very well, in the usual box config
(cool air IN lower front to warm air OUT upper rear) it can help the speed/force
of the air flow through the case.
You can also mount it vertically and point it toward the blowhole's fan if you like.
That can help move warm air away from your video card faster.
Many other solutions force air in a different direction and interfere with case air flow.

Don`t be so quick to judgement....
I believe he has his heatsink fan blowing onto the CPU along with additional air also being blown onto the CPU from an outside source...
In which case there really nothing wrong with that...

repeat after me..hahah...doh

yea, if u knew anything about the new stock amd (or old one for that matter) youd know that the hsf blows onto the heatsink and cpu. i then have a rear-intake duct taht blows cool air from the back ONTO the cpu fan; it blows air onto the fan and thus the cpu as well. and this wasnt a mod. it comes with the case - a lian li pc 60 plus.
