I love my job

I enjoy what I do, it comes naturally to me, and I do it well. My bosses are very cool, as are my coworkers. I've been taking one class to finish my second degree (let's hope I pass) and they've been very flexible with me going to class.

I can do my work remotely from anywhere, as long as I have internet and my cell phone. So I don't have to go into the office for any particular reason, which is useful since it is a 30 minute drive during rush hour (stop and go, which I HATE). I generally try to leave by 7:30am if I'm going into the office so I miss rush hour and leave 3-4pm to miss afternoon rush hour as well. But if I want to leave early to get other stuff done, it isn't a problem.

And today, after I've been out of the office Mon-Tues studying for my final exam, we're all getting together for lunch for a couple hours. And the restaurant is close to my house, so I'm just working remote all day and will see them for lunch. I will probably go into the office tomorrow, but I"m taking Friday off to get stuff done.

Pay is good, benefits are great, plus all of the above, what's not to like?

How many of you feel the same? 🙂 Happy Holidays!

EDIT Now with poll!

Wish I did...
havent enjoyed anything I have done since I left the Navy..
guess I was cut out to be lifer Military

oh well.. back to the grind..

IT sucks =P

i dunno. i might be better if it wasn't for my boss but i doubt i would actually enjoy it.

i don't know what else i might enjoy though.

Ill agree. My pay is good(better than I could get anywhere else), my hours are extremely flexible, boss is cool, often get to test a lot of stuff before its offically release. Good many perks to my job, just gets boring at times.

No I hate it. I am a Level 2 Sys Admin for my company's help desk. Basically I spend all day helping the n00b help desk techs get their ****** done.

Pay is awesome and I am 1 mile from the office. I work easy hours and come/go as I please most of the time. My boss is in another state so he doesn't bug me too much.

No, but I work at a grocery store so maybe later on in life after college I will 🙂

If you do a poll, make sure to add at least 4 options:

Yes
Yes, and I work in IT
No
No, and I work in IT.

My hunch is that the final option will dominate the poll. I don't know anybody who works in IT that's really happy with their job. If they ARE happy, they must be on drugs or just haven't been in the business long enough 🙂

I love my job, and I'm in the IT department. I was very unhappy at the last place I worked (8 years there, also in IT). My company produces a product and provides VRS (Video Relay Service) for the deaf. It's awesome -- now a deaf person can order pizza in their own language, without having to use something slow like TTY.

Gives me a warm fuzzy to know I am helping people every day.

We had a guy, just back in August, who was deaf, and with terminal cancer. His dying wish was to have one of our new-generation VP-200 video phones, so that he could talk to all his loved ones around the country. We flew out and installed it for him, and he was able to use it for a few weeks before he finally died.

I've never been in a company where a product changes the lives for so many in such a positive way.

Love my job, hate my commute. Awesome pay, tons of stuff to learn and they let us be flexible with our hours.

I work IT.

great job, great coworkers. Occasionally, a few of the students can be major PITA's, but that's an expected part of the job.

Very cool, man.

Usually, I love it. Today was tough, my favorite patient is dying. It's tough when reality hits the family and they start to lose it.

Say a prayer for John folks.
