My 17 gig maxtor drive was making some noises so i decided to get it rma'ed and have a new drive shipped to me.
I open the box and a shiny 7200rpm 30 gig drive rests inside :Q So much for getting a bigger drive.

So if you have an old maxtor drive, take advantage of their no quibble warranty :D

Not too "shabby"...but ya, my 40 giger died on me and they sent me a 60 gig 7200rpm one...with still like 2 yrs left under warranty.

They automatically issue a 2 year(or something) warranty extension on the replacement drive, even if your original warranty only has 1 month left. That's how good "no-quibble" is.

Does that mean if I were to take a live electrical wire and let it touch my Maxtor 7200rpm 6oGb (by accident of course), they'll send me a 100Gb drive? :p

Yeah, I used to not like (to say the least) their drives few years back but they have come a long way since then. They're my favorite hard drive manufacturer for IDE drives hands down.

I don't know, they're using Quantum drives now. I bought 2 40 giggers from Best Buy and they turned out to be Quantum Fireballs when I opened the boxes. Hopefully when they start turning out Maxtor drives outta the old Quantum facilities the quality doesn't go to pot.
