I love living close enough to work that I can ride my bike to the office!

This morning it took me about 40 minutes to ride 10 miles. On a good day it takes me about 15-20 minutes to drive it. Lately, it's been more like 25-30 minutes because traffic seems to be getting worse. Soon it will probably take the same time to bike to work as it does to ride.

BTW-I've been doing this once or twice a week for over a year now. Oh, and we have shower facilities so I can shower and change into my work clothes when I get here. My bike is resting by the window in my office.

Anyone else ride a bike to work?

I do when the weather is nice, but I only live about two miles from work.

I envy you. I'd love to ride my bike to work on a cool, crisp morning. At the moment, it's unfeasible.

I do, and even in the winter. Not this week though because we don't have showers and the bigwigs are in town (a spong bath usually suffices, but why take chances).

I would, it's only 6 miles, but a good chunk of it is on 2 lane highway with no shoulder to escape to. People routinely do 65MPH on it.

I value my life more than the environment and the $1.00 a day I'd save in gas.

I have been commuting to work on my bike for the past year and half or so. I try to ride everyday that it is nice out (not raining). So far this year I have commuted over 2200 miles. My commute is between 7.5-8+ miles depending on which route I take. It is great exercise and a nice way to enjoy my commute instead of the usual road rage. My goal is 2500 miles by the end of the year, almost there!

I do but some f0cking scumbag tosser stole my nice bike and I am currently riding a budget bike hand me down. At least it was free...I'm looking at getting a nice scaplel on ebay though but they don't come up that often on ebay uk :(

15minute cycle for me. Driving would force me to pay a ridiculous parking fees. It's bloody cold in England at the moment also, more so with the wind. It is refreshing and a good pick me up in the mornings. I use to commute 50minutes each way to my previous job.

Depends. Who drives the Lexus- you or the wife?

I don't even bother with a bike, I walk to my current job 75% of the time(only take my truck if I have to go somewhere right after work), since it's a 5 minute leisurely walk.

In 2 weeks though that's not going to be an option when I switch to my new(sorta) job on the other side of the valley. 35miles or so on the commute. Maybe more. Haven't mapquested it yet.

I currently commute 35 miles one way on 2 lane curvy country roads w/ no shoulders that eventually turn into 55mph 4 lane state highways, so no way in hell

however, when i start my new job it will be ~12 miles from home, 95% of which is on 4 lane 55mph state highway... i don't think i'll be commuting via bike there either

A motorbike, yes. Much easier to park than a car, but you don't get all sweaty on your way to work.

Oh, and heated grips in the winter:)
