This has got to be the single best designed program for the photographer's workflow.
One of my clients wants me to go to a fair and take AND print pictures on the spot. She's going to have one of those Hawaiian cardboard themed cutouts with the holes in them where you go to stick your head or something.
So I bought a printer and here's the setup:
1. Laptop connected to D300 via USB with D300 triggering two remote flashes on stands with shoot through umbrellas via a radio transmitter.
2. Using Nikon's Camera Capture Pro I can shoot tethered to the camera - I can control all the camera's functions right on the laptop, even live view. I can tell the camera to shoot sitting at the computer.
3. Once the camera shoots, it downloads the photo to a specific directory.
4. Lightroom is set to automatically look in this directory all the time for new photos (auto import function). When the camera takes a picture, it is automatically imported into Lightroom and shows up in the library. Lightroom supports tethering!
5. During this automatic import Lightroom will automatically apply pre-made post processing settings like white balance, sharpness, saturation, etc. because it's a studio scene with very predictable lighting. So the image will show up in the library already fully edited.
6. All I have to do is go to the print module where all the color space and printer settings are already set, even my business website as a little caption superimposed on the lower right of the photo, and select a photo and click Print.
7. Photo is sent to printer (could be wireless if there was a router nearby).
I predict that I can take the picture and have a nice looking print in about a minute.
