i have this dead 1.6A retail chip.


i dont have the box or the plastic part though. do they require you to send that in when you get your replacement?

All you need is the receipt from an AUTHORIZED IPD showing that you're the original purchaser.

I do not believe Intel will stand-by a processor that was purchased from a non-authorized IPD, but I could be wrong.

hmmm i called them , gave them the serial number, and said i got it on ebay. apparently they are gonna let me rma it.


apparently i'm gonna now send the $61 suppposedly untested (it was dead after i tested it) 1.6A i got on ebay to intel and they will give me a new one, since it is under warranty. how l337. intel pwnz.

all you do is

call 1-916-377-7000

hit 6

talk to a guy for a case number, talk to a technician, and they email you an RMA. its awesome.

Intel gives you a 1 year warranty on OEM and 3 years on retail. They're able to tell the date of manufacterer from the serial number, so if it's less than the warranty period, they have no problem exchanging it (whether you have proof of purchase or not).
