I'm attempting to transition to healthier snacks so that I don't ruin my exercise efforts.
Over a pound of hummus still has less fat and calories than 2 servings of chips or a can of chef boyardee.

For clarification, I only ate ~2 Tbsp with half a pita pocket

Garlic lover's hummus + toasted pita chips (made from fresh pita) FTW

A quick google says its 1k calories per pound. Btw, through personal experience, the best way to keep yourself from getting hungry is to eat lots of meats. How did I get to this conclusion? Well, there was one week where I had nothing but all you can eat buffets for lunch. On the days where I ate just meat, that lunch lasted me till the next day's lunch. On the days when I had lots of rice/paste/breads, I needed to eat dinner.

This brand is ~400 per pound. It probably varies based on how much olive oil you use, this one is pretty thick, mostly chickpeas

Try the Costco hummus...especially the garlic one. Tasty!

Red pepper hummus is godly. I could eat an entire tub of it.

Same here.

I do like hummus, but I don't love it. A friend of mine loves hummus and peanut butter sandwiches.

Hummus can be quite tasty, although about half of the commercial stuff I've tasted is utter crap. You really have to find the right brand for your individual tastes. I typically eat it with toasted bread.

What brand are you using? Most hummus is full of calories. So, it seems to us like your comparison is far from the truth. If you've found a low calorie tasty brand, I know several people who'd like to know about it.

One pound of hummus is about 2 cups. Using probably the best nutrition website ever made: one pound of typical hummus has 800 calories and 48 g of fat. Two servings of corn tortilla chips is: 276 calories and 12 g of fat. Your comparison is about 4x off.

Hummus is full of fiber, minerals, and some vitamins. So, it is healthier than many other toppings. But, if you look at the nutritional target map, it really isn't as filling nor as nutritious as other foods can be. You typically want something really filling or really nutritious, or both. Hummus has neither.

Make your own FTW. Great for homemade baby food, too (skip the lemon juice and tahini -- I use baby yogurt instead).

I find chick peas to be disgusting plain, not crushed anything. But once I put them into a processor, add a few small liquids, it suddenly turns into an amazing dip. Also very healthy!

I thought hummus had much more fat that that (I over estimated fat in chick peas.) Aside from the calories tho, chick peas and olive oil contain healthy oils/fats.

I'm right there with you. I like Target's Archer Farms brand. This weekend while camping, we dipped freshly cooked bacon in red pepper hummus. While the combination may not be the healthiest, figure friendliest, it was very tasty.

I'd get my blood replaced with hummus if it wouldn't kill me. Then I could slit my wrists and it would be instant party time!
