Just wait until another pic crops up many years from now with her and another kind of snake in her hand. You'll be shocked then.

Kids learn to be afraid of snakes. Their natural curiosity trumps whatever small portion of DNA tells them "don't touch things that could bite". If you don't pass on the snake-phobia they won't have it.

Exactly, I need to watch myself because sometimes I say "ew a spider" or something like that. But instead I just try and show her it or pick it up. Her naturally tendency is to get me when she sees a bug, but if I act like its not big deal, she will try and pick it up

I used to catch snakes with my dad in our backyard and then release them in the meadows behind our house (my mom does not like snakes), it was always great fun and I love snakes now as an adult.

Snakes are scary only when people tell you they are.

There are scary snakes, but that's only a small percentage of them. If you think otherwise, that's racist.

Great pic, cute kid. So, what's the story? Did she pickup on her own, or did someone hand it to her?

Fierce women are awesome!

lol meanest snake i owned was a Garter snake. they are fun to watch because they aren't afraid of you and think they can hurt you. Every time i went to clean his cage he would try to bite me.

I also have a ball python. long as i haven't been handeling the mice it don't give a fuck what i do to it. heh

My son saw it, laying on a branch that was in the water. I chased it with my daughter right behind me yelling get it daddy, get it. I picked it up, let it poop and pee, rinsed it in the lake and she pretty much grabbed it from me. My 10 year old son would barely even touch it with his finger.

Just wait until she picks up a copperhead or a cotton mouth. That won't be very cute!

I hope you are teaching her which ones are safe and which ones are not.

Should I bite at the front, back, or just start in the center?

Also I think he will be moulting soon so he should stop attempting to bite when that starts.

Large bite from centre - the snake knows who is boss, you don't get bitten, and the pet shop ends up with two snakes... Everyone wins, what's not to love

I generally avoid touching smelly reptiles apart for lizards (I didn't mind picking those up as a kid, they are cute) because they bite or scratch (especially turtles) and I can't safely recognize a poisonous snake from a safe one.

Mine is similar. She will pick up any worm, bug, etc., without hesitation.

Last night I taught her to ride her bike. She immediately chose to go on a two mile ride with us using the bike lane on the side of our roads in our neighborhood. My wife was gonna lose her mind, but the longer she rode, the better she got and two miles later she's a champ.
