Well anyways, I've procrastinated my homework that's due in about 8 hrs. (it's 4am here, class at 12:30pm) and I look on the prof's website and he has his online lectures... and they're quite boring to read through and often a bit too simple to answer the homework (you had to have attended class to understand it fully)

Well, after trudging through the first problem (dealing with trombone frequencies). I come across a bitch of a problem - sketch the first 8 standing waves of a clarinet column. Well, onto google (standing waves closed open end) and voila! up pops a java site where all I have to do is punch in a few numbers and it sketches the harmonic's wave path, calculates the frequency and the wavelength, and gives me a nice picture of how the air molecules would move in such a pattern.

:)

Also, anybody wouldn't happen to know if I slide a trombone out, the length of the air column is extended for twice the length of the amount I slid out? (because the slide is a U shape, i'm assuming if i slide it out 5 cm, the air column is extended by 10 cm, but I'm not exactly sure of this)

(my 1337's post ;))
