So my 7900 gt ko craps out on me, I send it in for RMA. Within a week a package (that actually requires a signature and wont be left out in the rain) shows up and I pop it open. They sent me a 7950 GX2. This is amazing. I almost regret upgrading to an 8800gts 640 now. Oh well, I think it will sell on ebay for darn near close to what I paid for the 7900 a year ago. any other gpu companies like this? I heard XFX and BFG are good too.

I heard PNY has some clause where they only replace products still in their cycle; otherwise most other tech companies will do that.

You can't use the step up program with an RMA replacement card can you? Cause I think they still retail in the 400 dollar range.

You can if the card you originally purchased is still within the step up time period. They will just use the price of the original card rather than the step up.

I hate EVGA with a passion, after my GTX died all they sent me back was another GTX. ;)

XFX is good from what I've read, unfortunately my 7950GT just keeps going and going.

I just had a 7600GT replaced by BFG for the same thing. I wouldn't have minded an upgrade.

I had the exact opposite experience. I had a 7900 GT KO crap out on me. I called and told the guy on the phone that I had read on the web about how there's a known problem with the card, nVidia had recalled them and I needed to send it in. He told me there was no problem with the cards and he's never heard such a thing.

I sent the card in nd they sent me back an 7950 GT. The problem is the memory runs at a lower speed and it loses to the 7900 GT KO in about 50% of the benchmarks. I explained to them that I purchased a KO card and I deserved a KO card in return and there's no way I would accept a card that performs less to what I paid a premium price for. They tried sending me links from Tom's Hardware that show a 7950 GT beating a 7900 GT KO in all of the benchmarks, the problem is they were sending me a 256MB card and not the 512 used in the benchmarks!!! It took me emailing a customer service manager to explain that they were sending me a crippled card (256mb vs 512mb) that performed less than what I paid for.

I had to fight with them for several days to get it straightened out.

Oh yeah, did I mention this was actually the second time I had to have the card replace (going on my 3rd card) within a one year period. The first time they sent me a refurb 7900 GT KO and It ended up with the same problems. LOL
