I love Circuit City!

I really used to hate them back in the day when they were on comission, but lately they have been awesome.

I bought an Alpine CD deck for $280 back after Christmas. They price matched it to a local competitor for $267 installed.

Today when I went in to go pay off my credit card bill I just checked the price of the CD deck. It was $250, so I'm thinkin sweet, I get another $17 back. Well I went to the CSR to get a price adjustment, but when he looked at the reciept all the prices were different, because they took extra money off the CD deck, then I had to pay for labor for installation, but in the end it would all come out the same. So long story short, he says screw it, I'm just gonna give you $50 back 🙂 So after tax got refunded I got $52 back! So my $280 CD deck came out to $215 installed! 😀

CC has been really awesome lately, and they carry a lot better products than those morons at BB.

It's people like that that make a business go under. Great for you Gobadgrs you got a great deal, But CC got the shaft from a lazy employee.

I've received awesome service from them lately, from the salespeople and 2 different managers at two different stores.

Best Buy can take their high prices and customer no-service and shove it.

we do it every day as a policy at the store I work at. Our theory is that if you take care of a customer and take a short deal on a small piece, they will think of you when they are looking for something bigger.

not on a $280 cd player...the margin on decks has dropped severley...its closer to 20%

That makes sense to me. Prices are at an all time low for what you get in car stereos, yet I can't imagine that manufacturing and other costs have gone down a similar amount in the last 5-7 years.

I still doubt that this employee did this in the stores best interest. 5-10 minutes work would have saved the store $32 dollars and the customer would have still been happy as stated to get the $18. Multiply this many times and it can make a big difference. Just my opinion..

Theyve always taken good care of me, and I go there if Im going to buy pretty much any electronics at retail. I also use their credit card to buy everything.

the focus isnt on profit anymore...its on marketshare

But remember, they just 'bought' a customer. I can bet he's going to make another purchase within the next 10 years from them.

i used to hate CC too. even boycotted them for a while... but I bought my last 2 XM radio's from them, and had to replace one of them. They did it no questions asked....

They had him if they just refunded what he should have got. They would have lived up to their policy and everyone would have been happy. He did not ask for more but the lazy employee gave it to him. I just beleive he should have took the few minutes to be fair to the customer and to the store. Both would have bee happy.

exceeding expectations should be every store's policy

Circuit City does have a great return policy. That's why I still prefer them to Best Buy. But their salespeople aren't as good as they used to be (at least IMO.) Wasn't it some time last year that they went from commission-based employees to lower-paying hourly employees? In fact, I know it had to be because there were some threads here on it and I bumped into a former CC employee working at Sears one day (whom I'd got a lot of good deals at CC on floor sample stuff through) and we got to talking about it. I know I used to get almost ALL my electronics through them because I received such good service from their salespeople. I was an educated buyer. I'd done my research. I knew what I wanted. But it was still nice to be able to deal with a salesperson who knew the equipment thoroughly. Now a lot of the floor people only have basic knowledge about a lot of the equipment they're selling. It doesn't really hurt someone like me that much, but for somebody with only cursory knowledge it's helpful to have that insight sometimes.

Still, it's good that they were nice like that and cut you a deal. I know I personally remember things like that as a consumer. All things being equal (i.e., price), I'll always go with the store that treated me best in the past.

CC fired, thats right, fired, their top 1600 salespeople. They got a phonecall, a severence check, and a goodbye. CC is going down the hole, thats why Gobadgrs story made me proud of CC. CC has already gotten out of appliances completely, fired ALL their top salespeople, next year they will be very restricted by manufacturers on which lines they can carry. We beat deals from CC everyday, even if the deal is below cost. My old boss (God rest his soul,) said that when the competition is drowning, you shove a fvckin garden hose down their throat.

And the winner is.......AgaBooga!!!!!

I like CC, a lot. Better than BB for returns and overall customer service IMO. Just a pleasant experience for me, most of the time.

I bought my TV and Home Stereo from them before I bought my CD deck. I keep going back because I like them so much. When I get DVDs retail, thats where I also go. I also use my circuit city credit card almost everyday to buy stuff.

Why would they do that?

And how in the hell did I miss CC going from commission to hourly only??!?!

I dont have a link, I do however, have their 3 top writers working for my store now.

The thinking was that they would cut costs, which they did. guess it was 1800 not 1600
