Congratulations OP!

How come everyone likes this, but when I made a thread about price matching groceries it was mostly thumbs down? Love for coupons - no love for price matching?

I didn't know you could price match groceries :Q

Walmart matches competitor ads. I just get a spreadsheet and type up all the competitors, their prices, and the product, take the ads with me and go shopping.

my dad's kinda like that.

I have to confess, it's left me scared. lol. growing up, the basement in my parents house was like a grocery store, because my dad would buy whatever he could get for free/nearly free regardless of whether it was needed or not.

now as an adult, I go grocery shopping 2-3 times/week because I refuse to keep a surplus of food inside my house beyond what I'll eat in a few days (outside of baking staples like flour, sugar, and other spices).

Because price matching makes people behind you wait forever. Using existing sales and coupons doesn't. 😛

I used to do that but its not worth my time to go that extensive anymore. I just go up and down every aisle and pick out whatever I like that's on a good sale price.

I work at a grocery store in the summer (yay for being college student) and if you came in my line, I'd jump over the counter, and piledrive you.

Then I'd ask you what your secret is on all those sweepstakes you win 😀

I am VERY organized, I've got my store card out, my coupons orgnized, I put products on the belt grouped so that you can easily see that I've met the terms of the coupon or promo offer. if a coupon requires you to write in a price,I'll tell you that first.I pay in cash and can/will do my own bagging.I also share coupons with Jedi cashiers🙂

If you actually write in the price on the B1G1 coupons, you're golden. And I have had a customer do that before and it was nice.

OK, I will give you a break then, no piledriver. 😀

You could be my mom though, so I wouldn't have the heart to do that anyhow

my wife's been bugging me for a trip to Europe...methinks I'm gonna show her this thread (she does most of the grocery shopping)

The rest are crap that you shouldn't eat anyways
Excuse me, the Hummus, Nuts and Salsa are extremely healthy. The cereal and pickles aren't bad either if eaten in moderation. Some of the chips are also whole grain.

I personally loved your thread, just wish I lived closer to a Walmart.

I totally understand that. I'm not into hoarding,I'm into saving money on products we actually use.I'm also cool with being able to help family/friends and being able to donate. My company supports several food banks and organizations that are thrilled to receive name brand foods and health and beauty aids. Plus I'll be having a yard sale or two in late summer/early fall, lots of folks here from countries where their families expect them to mail care packages back home from America, they love buying shampoo, toothpaste, soaps etc at 1/3 of the normal cost 🙂

We have an agreement here, the stockpile is put away neatly, coupons and paper clutter are regularly sorted and disposed of, our house is a home not a warehouse, though my pantry and storage closet areas are becoming most impressive🙂

I don't know if I should be impressed or scared. :Q

My wife could use a lesson or two. She just grabs stuff off the shelf without even looking at the price tags or buying stuff on sale. Drives me insane when I go shopping with her.

a pile of koolaide... purchased as qualifying items for a promo

OH YEAH!

this was a multiple offer deal, several very nice promotions that worked together

the planter nuts were 4/$12
I had coupons good for $3 off the purchase of each can of nuts..with the purchase of 3 other kraft products. Koolaid is a kraft product. my qualifying purchases totaled $1.50

I also had a coupon offering me free cheese up to $4 in value with the purchase of 3 qualifying Kraft products. Now Kraft is running yet another promo, offering a coupon good for $3 off your next grocery order if you purchased 3 bags of marshmallows. I had coupons for the marshmallows..making them free after getting my $3 coupon.. these paired up nicely with the cheese.

The store was offering an additional $5 coupon savings if I purchased 10 kraft products.

Take all of the above, combine them together.. then add in an additional $5 off your next grocery order as a thank you from kraft.

The kool aid was a wonderful purchase.. and the 10 yr old next door was very happy to get it along with the bags of marshmallows.

I purchased $3 worth of kool aid total.. that purchase equals the sale cost of 1 can of nuts.. I got 8 cans of nuts 🙂

How long did it take you to figure all that out? I value my free time at twice my pay, so if it took me an hour to sit down and get all the coupons and stuff i'd need to be saving a hell of alot of money.

I'd much rather be relaxing at home with my husband and the cat, wearing pj's,sipping coffee while I sort out my deals than at work busting my arse trying to earn enough to pay full retail price. My bill yesterday without coupons but at the sale prices was easily over $100, I saved
over 90%.
