this is why i love attbi

"AT&T Broadband, said the company eventually intends to introduce tiered packages that will provide higher speeds at higher prices"

"Comcast has a policy in place that forbids the use of virtual private network (VPN) clients over a residential connection while AT&T this month instituted a 1.5M bit/sec. cap on download speeds "

"Comcast offers a telecommuter service that supports VPNs but charges $95 a month, compared with $39.95 a month for residential service. The company's Business Communications subsidiary also offers a range of corporate broadband services priced from $150 to $695 a month depending on the length of the contact and speeds, with a 2M bit/sec. connection downstream and 512K bit/sec. upstream service commanding the top price. "

attbi internet barly even works for me right now.... i think that i will be going the way of DSL very soon........

EDIT// can not forget this one

"the company intends to sharply limit the amount of data a user can download in a month without paying a higher fee"

SH!T!

I'm with you. My cable modem was working flawlessly before the whole attbi fiasco, and now many of the sites I frequented before are no longer accessible. This alone makes the $40/month seem unreasonable, and the proposed download capping would make it even worse. If they do actually start capping, then I'm going to get REALLY pissed, especially since DSL isn't available for our home.:|:|:|:|

those surfing probs prolly due to the dns server problems which seem to happen everyday...

screw the cap...if they cap im going straight to DSL, just be a shame since i just bought my @home modem a few months back

The cap already exists and is in place. It's 1.5Mbps downstream and 128kbps upstream. The DNS problem is one of four major issues on the ATTBI network. It will be fixed, just not any time soon per the other more important issues like making sure customers still actually have their account. Yes, the service sucks, but if you don't like it...

/me points to the door

Happy hunting.

/me goes back to my cheap, trusty dialup

i dunno, i haven't had any dns problems, but that's because i don't necessarily use their dns servers.

here's a partial list of the ones i have windows go through:

204.147.80.5
128.101.101.101
4.2.2.4
206.196.128.1

you can add a bunch of them, you're bound to hit one that works.

cheers :)
