Isn't it great we (the super elite) have a forum to communicate amongst each other. I think this might be the only place where everyone is filthy rich, completed 8 years of college, and flies their personal airplanes for fun. Oh yeah everyone is also incredibly good looking and fighting off the women with a stick. Did I forget to mention the one's that are black belts in ju jitsu or were navy seals?

Quoted for ridiculousness.

I really don't read *that much* bragging here.

If it sucks so bad for you, leave. You clearly have no vested interest in contributing useful posts, and apparantly no one likes you enough that you'd be missed.

I wrecked my Lotus today.

I almost had enough pocket change to land me a Spyder but I settled on a 1986 Toyota Corolla for now.

:Sigh:

This has never been posted before. How unoriginal and unfunny.
So, this is for you.

I actually like AT. Just the BS gets old.
Why would I have a vested interest in a forum?
Not really caring if I'm liked or not.

This has been covered., as Olds pointed out. But to summarize-

A 6 figure income isn't that much money in high cost sections of the U.S..

There are many highly educated people interested in computer related technologies, I, for one, do not find it odd that many congregate at Computer Technologies message boards.

There are many posts about ineptitude with- women and social settings. Furthermore, many members have provided their pics over the years, so it is easy to see most of us are not male models.

And get it straight, I'm not a BB in JJ, I hold a Sandan in Shotokan and a Shodan in Okuno-Ryu. ;)

In conclusion: That we all have various accomplishments, should not be surprising or noteworthy. That some here are so full of shit their eyes are brown, is also well known and established. But, the wheat is separated from the chaff fairly quickly.

Cliff Notes: Blah Blah Blah.

Well if we couldn't post on things that have been covered before we couldn't post at all.

Also I hope it doesn't seem like a troll thread. I just get a quesy feeling reading some of the posts that smell of crap a mile away. Like the feeling you get talking to a car salesman that wears lots of gold jewelry.

You're also going to get a response bias. The people that are doing well for themselves are more liekly to reply than those who arent. Can you point to some threads where people were posting ridiculous things about their financials? From all the education and financial threads i've seen, most people are earning very reasonable salaries and have a pretty run of the mill college education.

:D

Some people are just looking for external validation, The goal is, trying to feel good about themselves, because they feel anything but. The rest are just blatant trolls, that get perverse jollies from being the scourge of the forums.

I saw a thread recently that showed the demographic of AT. It was basically the average user on AT makes below middle class money and is over 40 years old(I can't remember exactly). So how is it everyone posting went to college and is making 80-450k a year? Im sure there are exceptions but everyone posting?

Polls are notoriously, and intentionally, skewed, based upon the capricious whims of the members responding. E.G. I just answered a poll No, but posted in the thread Yes. :D

Also worth noting, while we have a couple hundred thousand plus, registered members, the number that actively post for any length of time, is very small. The registered lurkers are the x-factor in polls, me thinks.

Because you're likely looking at threads about college? Your 40y/o thing is definitely wrong. I think the majority of posters are between 20-30. I think the older you get, the less relevant your colleg eexperience becomes so you're less likely to post about it. And seriously, who's more likely to post, a blue collar 40-something dad or a 20 y/o college student thats in front of the comp all the time.

And w/ financials, people probably arent jumping at the chance to let others know they're raking in 30k a year.

I Went to college for (parts of) 6 years.

Problem is I only have a bachelor's degree :p

I make ok money now, but back when I was in school I never would have replied in a thread to advertise that I was making $6 an hour and $7,000 in debt. I am impressed with those that do post these things, that takes guts. Clearly it's response bias. I've felt a bit humbled by the finance threads, but I remind myself that for the most part, only the relatively few members that are financially successful are going to post in them. When you have a user base of hundreds of thousands of people, a "relatively few" can still be a few thousand members.

Maybe it's a generational thing but I was brought up in a society where we didn't talk about how much money we were making. Sex, drugs, religion? Yep, talked about all that but money? Never.
