$37.35 for Planet Earth (courtesy of Amazon.co.uk) and $54.23 for the HD DVDs. Total? $91.58. :)

I ordered some books from amazon last night at 11pm.
When I woke up this morning at 6am, I had an email saying they'd shipped...that was with free Super Saver shipping. Awesome.

I had the Prime trial..it was nice, but I don't buy enough to make it worth the cost. This stuff came in six days earlier than I expected anyway- ETA was 02/17! :D

Hahaha..I've never actually seen the first or third ones, and apparently they're good transfers. For 5 bucks, meh. :p

My overall experience has been good with them. I did have one retailer ship the wrong product, and after notifying them (it was a $5 item), they told me to just keep it and then they sent me a refund.

Sad thing was it was a copy of a CD I already owned.

Not a day goes by where I don't look to buy something on Amazon. Damn them and their crack like deals mixed with a line of freshly cut Prime.

The only problem with buying HD-DVDs is that your player will eventually break. And of course you have to leave it hooked up.

Then again, since you own the movies legally you can feel no moral qualms about obtaining those movies through other means if your player ever breaks.

I have two..a standalone and an LG bluray/HDDVD drive. At $5/ea for the movies (except Serenity and Shooter, at $6-7) I'm not too worried about it! :p

With hard drives being so cheap these days, I may rip my entire HD DVD collection to h264 or something..that way it won't be an issue when players aren't available anymore.

That's turning out to be a little more hassle than I expected thus far, but I just started messing with it yesterday.

When you figure it out, let me know. I'm in no hurry. :)

I tried converting my whole DVD collection to divx. When I realized it was going to take a year just for the TV shows... well, I'll let you guess what I did.

Find some friends and split it. I split it with a friend and paid half, but used it a bunch of times already. Honestly, I would pay full price for it in the future.
