If you recall this thread
, I was attempting to make a logo for the Goodyear Quality month.
Well, I lost. And that's not so bad.
I was just told by someone here that the winning logo was a hand drawn heart with the words passion and quality scattered around it.
I actually saw it, and it looked horrible.
I was told by a buddy of mine, who actually got to vote, that it's all just politics, and that I never had a chance of winning because I am a white guy? Seriously. I'm not joking.
The problem is, there was only one black person, a young pretty girl, who entered anything. She happened to win the logo and the slogan.
And about 30 white entries, some of them actually pretty good.
Crazy thing is, she has won all the logo and banner contests that in any way involve the union, as the union guy that gets to vote is also a black man.
That's fine and dandy, but he would not vote for any slogan or logo but hers.
Well everyone rushed to his side to avoid racial conflict.
I told them that she needs to start designing all the T-shirts, coins, and banners that I design for the plant that don't reward with prizes, because I am no longer going to do them. Not in my job description.
I did them because I am the only person in the plant that can effectively use design programs, and because I am a nice guy.
