I lost my wireless AP address...

Okay... I know this sounds stupid, but here goes...

I get broadband via cable, and I have a wired router and a wireless access point (not a router) hooked up. The cable modem is connected to the wired router, and the access point is connected to the wired router. This all works fine.

My router and my access point are made by different vendors, and during installation I found that they both had the same admin IP. So I changed the IP of the access point so it works behind the router. Now I've lost the new IP of the access point.

Is there any way to find the IP of the admin page of the access point without going through a bagajillion possible sub-addresses?

Thanks in advance.

hehehe, I did that too one times, that is why I bought a label maker so I can label all my devices.
Download this little software: (Advance IP Scanner)

http://download.com.com/3000-2172-10129317.html?tag=lst-0-2

It will scan the whole subnet for active IP addresses, and your AP address should be there.

If nothing works, do a hard reset on your AP to default settings, this way you will be able to access it via the web using the default IP address...

Hope this helps

Most of the APs come with an Independent Utility (i.e. it does not use the Browser). This utility should detect and connect to the AP regardless of the IP number.

Look at the CD that came with the AP or log to the manufacture site. You probably will find a Utility associate with the AP install it and give it a try.

I couldn't find a utililty to find the IP address on the D-Link site... My AP is a D-Link DI-711.

I downloaded the advanced IP scanner and tried it... but it found a bunch of stuff. Is there an easy way to use it to find the IP? The address has to be a "sub-address" of my wired router if it is connected to it, right?

I did this once also and I used a program called angry ip scanner. It will scan your entire subnet for all known active nodes. It should find the AP quick fast and in a hurry.

Awesome! AngryIP worked like a charm! I finally found the IP address of my Access Point! Thanks so much!
