I thought I'd checked 'every inch'.
Things get very weird when you start rechecking those places you already checked. Even doing that can turn up the missing object... as it would have this time if you'd checked that box even though you thought you had checked it already. The more fruitful action (usually) is to ask yourself where you haven't checked yet. It's amazing what you realize then. Oh, yeah, that place... I forgot about that place...

It's a little hard to explain, but again, it's not exactly a box - it's something you can look at it and say 'ok, they're not there', which I did over and over. I probably checked the area 10 times.

OK, guess you haven't explained it well enough. Clearly your logic failed you in that one.

Spiders and garbage everywhere, but doesn't understand how he can lose his keys...
Lost my wallet earlier in the year. Creacher of habit. Bet my left nut on where I put it. Looked, looked, looked.....caught behind the skirt of the desk short drawer.

When you said "restroom" I thought you meant at work. Why are there boxes and piles of junk in your bathroom at home?

Update: I found them.

Unfortunately, it's pretty anti-climactic and hard to describe.

Short version: they were in the limited area I'd said they pretty much had to be in, in an area I had searched repeatedly.

It was the restroom. I have a package a few inches wide and some junk around it and guess it hadn't looked like the keys could be under it, but they were. A picture might make it clearer, I'll consider it.

It was just a freakily hard to find case that's not very satisfying, frustrating when you thought you had looked carefully. Of course they were there nearly 2 months before I found them, inches away daily.
We really do NOT want to see a picture of your package or your junk.

1. Glad you found them, you get closure now.
2. Shit, it's been 2 months!?

Thanks. Ya, that's how long it took for part of a key to stick out enough to get noticed. There's a little scrap of paper a little bigger than the key and I'm wondering if it was under that and hid them.

It's right in an area I'd looked probably 10 times right at them trying to look under anything however unlikely so it's hard to reconcile.

Yes, there are finders. The odds of them being lost again I think are low enough not to get any such device.

I HAVE sometimes been interested in a tracking device for things that are stolen, but they're pretty expensive.

It's interesting that the merchant above found this thread and created an account to post to it.

I decided to go with the Lappa b/c of the replaceable battery and light.

https://findlapa.com/

How do you like it so far?

Tile is testing a geofencing feature (called Smart Alerts), but nothing is official yet. I recently bought my second set of Tiles thanks to the cheaper replacement deal, but the Lapa's safety mode (i.e. alerts you when you leave stuff behind) seems REALLY handy.

Well....not really.

:D

Well, I think it was. That's a big hassle for little payoff.

Scouring the web for lost keys, creating an account, on a chance to get a sale that would be a cut for the referral. Didn't expect someone to be googling for lost keys.

I have no idea what the spam thing was about, it was edited when I saw it.

I assumed you might have just quoted the seller, but it seemed odd your post was edited and not his.

Truckers wallet and keys on a ring with a big dongle, lock the keys in the car, pull the spare out of the wallet and drive away. Lost a few finger nail clippers through a hole in the pocket.
