And it appears as if Canon doesen't offer their main picture download software, ZoomBrowser EX, for download.

So WTF am I supposed to do?

It's probably around here somewhere, I just don't feel like turning my house upside down to find it.

And I find it ridiculous that you can't just download it.

I can download pics just fine WITHOUT using that software. You are using Windows XP Home or Pro right? and you have the camera's USB cable?

Oh, of course.

I've been using Windows' stupid downloader for the last several times I've taken pics, and it's pissed me off more and more each time. For one, it starts the numbering over each time. So now my most recent pics are all IMG_00XX instead of being in order with all my other pics.

And it doesen't have an option to create a folder with the date taken and save there.. That's how all my pictures are ordered, by date. So it's very annoying.

I would suggest getting busy tearing apart your house or just buy a new Canon digicam :)

New Folder->name it "xx/xx/05"->save there.

The Canon software other than the RAW Image Converter (which I think is offered on their site) and the photo stitch (which I never use) is the most useless crap ever.

I wouldn't sweat if I lost mine.

But often I will take pictures on multiple different days, and then not download them for another few days......

I could organize it myself, but.. I shouldn't have to.

It's just not very versatile. And what about the numbering? I don't want my pictures to start over at IMG_0000 each time I download.

Oh, and another thing.. I tell it to call my pictures "IMG_", and it automatically puts a space there. So they're all called "IMG_ 0001", etc.

So what the hell do you use then?

Or do you just let your pictures become a jumbled mess in a single folder?

What's wrong with a jumbled mess?

If you wanna be real anal just make a new folder for every new set of pics and include the date in the folder name.

That's basically what I do. It's not anal, it's organized.

screenshot of camera folder

The Canon software would create a folder based on the actual date that the picture was taken. I didn't have to do anything.

I know exactly how you feel. I tried the default windows crap once and hated it. I'm also used to how the Canon software index it by date, and mark it as downloaded, so next time I want to download pics to my computer, it automatically download the new pics and not the old ones. XP default makes you download everything unless you want to click away one by one, which is annoying if you have ~100 pics and only want 50 of it.

Oh yeah, that too.

And once again I forgot to delete the old pics before taking new ones, so if I use the Windows software again, I'll have to unclick like 100 pics. :frown:
