My job makes a monthly trip to CostCos for office snacks and I gave the office assistant 20 bucks for a bunch of beef jerky. It's the Pacific Gold brand. Not as good as the Vermont made stuff but still tasty. Once I get my dehydrator I will start making my own. mmmm...can't wait.

Processed meat gives you gas.

Is beef jerky really considered processed? I guess in a way it is but when I think processed meat I think of things like slim jims.

my dad and i make our own. it iw alot cheaper then the store bought stuff. i alos think it tastes to much better. we can combine good seasoning for awesome taste. the last batch we made was a mesquite bourbon bbq flavor. it was so unbelievvably good.

making your own can be very dangerous though

if your using a bad food dehydrator that doesnt maintain its temperature, the meat can easily turn rancid

Excellent point. I have heard of some people getting very sick after attempting to make their own jerky in a dehydrator.
