Does anyone know what the default username is for WinXp? Some *genius* tried guessing my username and password and got rid of the default username (which I hadn't memorized yet). I know the password but does anyone know how I can get the user accounts on the system?

Thanks,
Jassi

PS. This has been one of those weeks and I have had the worst luck with computers :(

EDIT - I guess the name of another account that I had setup with admin powers and went in through it. Thanks for all your help, I will try the methods highlighted above and some other I found on my own later.

PS. Its scary how easy it is to find the passwords for all accounts on the machine :Q

Do you know your Administrator password? There should still be a default Administrator username, I believe.

boot into safe mode
it will allow you to manage accounts and change passwords, unless there is encryption

also, if there's nothing on the HD you want, just restore the system

No, the problem is that at the login screen (I use the win 2000 style login), the username is now "default" and my password doesnt work. I never gave out the password (its a rare german horror film title) so I am guessing the person couldnt guess it. I don't remember what it said as the user and I have tried every iteration of "Administrator" and no luck :(

How can I boot in to safe mode without a floppy?

Too boot in to safe mode, just press F8 while booting, it will bring up a menu, that allows you to boot in safe mode.
