Not a plastic bubble, a figurative bubble. I work at a ski resort in the winter and rock climb in the summer. The only friends I have either ski, climb or do both. I know this one girl who doesn't do any of these things (and she is pretty nerdy, score one for the good guys).
90% of my friends work with me, or has worked with me in the past. Most of my friends live close to me, we all live near the base of the mountains. There is a whole side of this town I have never been to. I never go downtown, it's "too far away". I never make it to Park City, it's "too long of a cab ride home". When I go to a bar, it's one of a few that are near me. When I go to a house party, it's never more than 5 miles away.
My bubble rocks.
The girl I mentioned earlier suggested that my bubble does in fact not rock. She suggests that the bubble is bad and I should meet people outside of the bubble. I've been thinking about that, and I realized I have no idea how to do that! If I spend all my time at the ski resort or the climbing gym, how am I going to meet someone who doesn't participate in these things?
Then I realized she is dumb and my bubble rules.
