I like them symmetric

I am right handed, but I prefer the feeling of symmetric mice.

Anyone know any good simple optical mice (no more than 5 buttons) that are symmetric, and no weird tilt wheel?

If you haven't tried a trackball, might I suggest the Logitech Marble Mouse. The best $20. one can spend on a pointing device, IMO. The fact that it's ambidextrous is gravy... I have one in my closet for the sad day that my original Trackman Marble FX (perhaps the best 2D pointing device ever made) goes TU. Rue that day!

I need a  after just contemplating it...

With a little training and practice I'm thinking games could be played as well with a Marble trackball as with a mouse. I'm thinking that almost no one has really tried.

Razer Viper if they still make it, a 1000dpi, 3 button, scroll wheel symmetrical mouse. Didn't Logitech also use to make a simple/cheaper mouse using their MX500 sensor? I don't remember if it was symmetrical though.

Logitech MX300 or MX310 (don't remember what it was called.. but it was 300 something). I think it has 4 buttons.

Yea I'm using a 300 right now, and I'm thinking about moving to the 310 =D.

I really like my MX310...I prefer small, light mice and never could get used to the larger, heavier Logitech wireless mice.

I've got a couple of Microsoft Wireless Optical Mice (one blue, one kinda rubbery). You can get them for like 15 bucks from surpluscomputers. It a 2 button + wheel mouse. Works fine for me. It's got firmer action than most on the buttons (which I prefer) and the wheel, uh, clicks (for lack of a better term) when you roll it. I don't like the newer versions w/ smooth rolling wheels.

I overcome the lack of extra buttons by using the Kensington mouse drivers, which have all sorts of nifty button chording features and such.

Second the MSFT Optical Wheel mouse. I have three of 'em in use, and two spare just in case for backups (but I've yet to need to replace one). You can actually get them for less than $15. I think I paid an average of like $5 each during various sales/specials/etc. at Staples, Office Max, and the like.

Very well made, simple, and no funky shapes like so many mice out there today.
