The anti-intellectual attitude has to go. These are the same people who always say you need to pull yourselves up from your bootstraps. By every possible measure, education is the best way to better your standing in life, yet they insist on attacking it. Freaking priceless hypocrisy.

If you're a product of higher education, then maybe it deserves to be lambasted.

If you understood anything at all, you'd understand that the current trend against "elitism" isn't based on education, but in using that education to denigrate others. Elitism is saying that because you have a college education, you're a better person and know best how everyone else should run their lives. It's Wall St. telling the average Joe that he needs to hand over his paycheck because if they don't the financial world will end. It's the Gores of the world telling somebody in their 1000 sqft house that they need to turn down the heat in the winter to save the Earth while he consumes vast quantities of power. That is elitism. Perhaps your just too "educated" to understand that.

I betya's no modelling has been done on earth core temperatures and its effects on earth surface expansion. Ohhh! the windmills of the mind moonbeam!

As for the o'bam'a thingy, It's all to late to change the economic situation, your robbers have fleed to Monaco, so drink my friends and be merry and try to remember the good old day's before the JFK assassination and the political war's of interdependence. You've been had in the world's largest pyramid scheme.

I agree the situation is bad, but to be honest fear tactics is a staple of government, especially with Democrats. It's not suprising at all.

OMG! There's terrerists!

Raise the terror alert to orange!

OMG! We could be attacked at any time!
Go buy duct tape and plastic sheeting!

If GWB doesn't win the 2004 election, the terrorists will win!

The SKY is falling! Only Georgie can protect you!!

If we let them-thar homo-secksuals git married, MY marriage will fall apart!

I don't think the Dems have any lock on fear-mongering...especially when compared to the new heights that the Bush folks raised it to.

it's "Homasectuals" FCS!

What a stupid statement. Are you sure you're replying to the right thread even? Republicans aren't attacking higher education, mr Red Herring, they're attacking more of the same liberal spending-to-win-votes crap. Expanding the government by definition will make more people dependant on the government. It was never the intention of our founding fathers to be slaves to a state to the point where we depend on uncle sam for everything including food on a daily basis, which is exact the direction that the left wants us to go, and as it happens today the more people using food stamps, the better for the left because that's a voter in their pocket.
