I like lifted trucks and all, but to the jackasses that drive them...

They are adjusted. Just incorrectly :p

I hate this too. I was driving out int he boonies on rt 90 and saw a car going the other way with, i kid you not, headlights that were pointed a good 50 degrees up. It looked funny as hell watching him come up. 2 big ass beems pointed up. How the hell could he see? Maybe he was worried about airplanes.

Tonight's incident was from behind, not in front.

It's just totally inconsiderate; improved visibility for you, a PITA for everyone else.

You can't on most modern trucks. For example 00 F-350 has a one piece housing which holds both headlamps and stretchs accross the front of the truck and is hard mounted to the upper crossmember and frame. No ajustment screws either. I have thought about putting in a dimmer switch for the headlamps when closing in on an accord or whatever but that is technically illegal.

Agreed, I drive a non-lifted truck and a car. I hate having to avoid my mirrors because of the jack@ss behind me. :frown:

Non lifted SUVs are annoying too because they are slightly higher than the pickups they are based on. I hate it when Suburbans etc get too close behind me and All I see is headlight. Annoying as hell. Also annoying are those ricers their gas discharge lights that they seem to angle upward to blind me. I usually flash my high beams at these people, sometimes leave the high beams on so they know how it feels.

Well, they DO have all of the extra weight from the Calvin-pissing-on-things stickers on the back windshield.

Are you guys scared of yellow face too? Trucks especially 4x4 have thier headlight, bumper and body higher to increase the aproach angles off-road. It's a design nessesity. And 4x4's sit on average 3" taller. You don't like it? Tint your back window, fade your rear view mirror or buy something taller.

Ok, I will spend a few hundred dollars to counteract somebody elses inconsideration.

No kidding. What you do is subtly stick up your middle finger and if they see it nice and clear at night, they should get the idea. I've truthfully wanted to do this on many occasions.

Hows that? If you bothered to read my post above it's immpossible to adjust some truck headlamps. Are they inconsiderate for buying a truck?

I haven't noticed the headlight problem, but there's another thing that bugs me about these drivers. If you're behind one, and they have to pass over a speed bump or make a right turn over a curb, they walk it over the curb like grandma Moses! Geesh! With all that heavy duty suspension, they ought to be able to take the bump at 60MPH! What's the point if you have to drive it like a woman?

WTF? You're kidding right? That's the worst solution, ever. So because these idiots want a truck that rides 5 ft off the ground, *I* have to tint my windows? phuck that. :disgust:

I hate this especially beacause it is hard for me to see at night and I can't see at all if someone is behind me with thier headlights on. I always slow to a crawl until they pass me. What I hate worse is tailgaiters. I had one on my tail last night, when I was going with traffic flow, that was like one foot from my ass. I hit my breaks and they stopped.

You don't have to do anything. It's up to you. And neither does the truck/suv as long as it's headlamps are DOT approved. What do you want a truck to do? Even a stock 4x4 headlamps will be pointing into the back of sedans? whats your solution?

Then I shall take a baseball bat and smash your headlights out. You don't like that? Put steel protective covers over them, turn off your headlights, get smaller tires or buy something shorter.

4x4 means 4 wheels, 4 wheels driven... So 4wd trucks are higher than 2wd? Hmmm..

Huh? I don't get it. Just b/c my truck sits 3 feet higher than your Miata and my headlights shine directly into your rearview mirror, that makes ME inconsiderate?

I think not. It's sheer physics, get over it! If a light is HIGHER, it's been will be HIGHER as well. Duh.

So what you're saying is that when I'm behind a car, I should shut my headlights off? Not.

When you intentionally lift your truck that high, yes.

I think not. It's sheer physics, get over it! If a light is HIGHER, it's been will be HIGHER as well. Duh.
really? I hadn't noticed

So what you're saying is that when I'm behind a car, I should shut my headlights off? Not.
Did I say that anywhere? Nah, thought not.

Apparently your physics class didn't teach you anything about angles. You know those things measured in degrees?
