I like Life on Mars

You might, too.

Michael Imperioli, Harvey Keitel.

Mysterious time travel and street level '70's New York in this new American version, complete with all the anachronistic '70's tech?

What's not to like? 😛

Original is better.

But that's true of all shows. You Americans need to leave english shows alone. You always ruin em.

Says the office.

Yeah, normally I'd be inclined to agree w/Rocksteady but the American The Office has truly grown into a program which, hands down, rocks on it's own.

I've never seen the Brit version of Life on Mars so . . . what can I say?

Michael Imperioli (from The Sopranos) grows a Seventies Porn Stach and hangs out his very own pair. I literally didn't know he had it in him. It is brilliant casting.

And if you don't like Harvey Keitel you have no soul, sniveling little cal- center, internet-posting guy. You also obviously don't know shit.

I'm not saying this is an A+ production. I'm just saying, if you buy the premise and appreciate the casting and can resonate with the anachronisms -- like when "Main cute guy" asks "Main cute girl" out for a cappuccino and she draws an honest blank, well . . .

Did I mention the time travel?

It is a great show and has a different look and feel and not just because the main protagonist finds himself in 1973. Once again another well-written, well acted show gets canned.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I am pissed this got cancelled, it was unique and had character and I looked forward to it every week. Obviously a show will not survive when you put it on a two month hiatus and then move it to a different night. What good TV is there anymore?

It's cancelled already? Didn't start watching till a couple of weeks ago when they changed it's time slot (on previous time DVR already had 2 shows recording), and found it to be an interesting watch. Good to hear another show goes down without any hope of finding out the story behind it.

British version pwns it hard. There's a sort of sequel on BBC too, 'ashes to ashes'. same idea, but it's the 80's, and the protagonist is a broad, the rest of the characters are mostly the same though, just 10 years older/changed, which is kinda neat. i dont know.

Finally got to see some of Ashes to Ashes, and it is very well done. John Simm is irreplacable, but Keeley Hawes isn't bad at all. Too bad the music sucks; I hate the '80s.

i dunno, i thought the sequel sucked hard, it was a bad copy, and the other characters were phoning it in. the main actress was unconvincing.

I didn't know there was life on mars yet...😛

Housing prices are down there, but the commute is a bitch . . . and there's not one bar with decent atmosphere. 😛

HEYYYYY-OOOOOOO!

I saw the British series just before the American series came out, and I like it a lot. The series plays around with your head a lot in some ways (kind of like it was for Sam), and the twists of the show kept me more interested than if it were just a regular cop drama. I didn't bother watching the American series, because I figured it would be weird watching it after the British series (which is like in my top 10-15 favorite shows of all time).

I am not one of those people who like the British version of series over the American just to be different, but the UK version of Life on Mars is considerably better greatly due to the guy who plays DCI Gene Hunt.

The problem with the American version is the lead actor is a total stiff. I thought his Irish accent in the last episode was terrible. Imagine how shocked I was to discover that he's actually Irish, lol. I guess then it's that his American accent sucks and that's why he comes across so wooden. There's seriously no reason why this series should not rock. The supporting cast should be awesome but is dragged down by a poor lead and bad writing (what's with the little robots!?!?).

I wanted to love this series but can't warm up to it. The British version is much better but the nostalgia is lost on me being an American growing up in NYC. Ah well, they tried.

Maybe I missed it but I didn't see a more recent thread about this show. Guess I'm the only one who watched it.
