I like Guiness on ice. Does that make me crazy?

I used to buy it in the 4 x 1quart widget cans and mix it with Michelob Amber Bock.

Ice just wouldn't work well for me I imagine.

Huh... Never thought to do that, but it does sound good.

It's delicious. We used to mix Guinness with coffee and drink that, which is delicious on its own, then we would pour it on ice cream to make an affogato. Still good with just plain Guinness too.

I don't drink alcohol because it messes with me in ways you probably wouldn't understand, but I can get why people drink casually because it has some benefits as long as you don't abuse it.

I don't mind Guinness but it's $11 for four cans. Frankly, it's not good enough to warrant that premium price. Lot's of other stouts out there that are better but are less expensive. I'm a fan of the English ones myself. They're maltier and more full bodied.

It's not 11 bucks here, but that being said, for the taste vs price factor is one reason I haven't gotten any in awhile I guess.

all that being said, You shouldn't drink Guinness ice cold. Not slightly cool, like an ale, but not all that cold, either.

Yes, one of many things OP.

I don't mind Guinness for what it is, but it really does not taste like anything. Super bland, but I like it for a generic stout or whatever it claims to be, on occasion.

FYI folks:

Guinness "draught" which is what most people know of Guinness, is basically a porter, and is what you would find in cans with the nitro ball. (the one that has to be poured all special-like, or you get a fine in the mail sent direct from Ireland).

There is also Guinness extra stout which, as far as I know, only comes in bottles?

Some markets also have access to Guinness "foreign extra stout." Which is an oatmeal stout and, for my money, the best beer that they make.

Fake picture is obvious fake.

Alcohol dissolves foam cups, and releases harmful CFCs. So either you poured it, and watched it dissolve and harm the atmosphere like an asshole, or the picture is fake.

i used to pay $9 for 4 cans around here, but there is this alcohol store that i found out about that is like a supermarket but all alcohol, and they sell 18 packs for $25. so i just re-up on them whenever i run out and get 2 boxes. lasts me a while.

i also get some other stouts while i'm there because you can buy singles and make your own 6 pack. my new other favorite stoute is "sweet baby jesus" by du claw. it's a chocolate and peanut butter stout. i got a 6 pack of that last time i went, but i can only have 1 or 2 of those at a time.

It's always going to be more expensive here because the government has monopoly on alcohol sales. Typically about 50% more than in the US. Gotta keep those civil servants well fed I guess. Though I've walked out of there with six tall boys of domestic craft or English porter for around $12-$14 before taxes.

I find domestic stout isn't very common. Especially here on the East Coast. Some I've had are like drinking a tall glass of black strap molasses. Compound that with the fact that the LCBO doesn't really support smaller breweries outside of Ontario. Stout is more of a winter beer for me. I've been drinking a lot of pale ales (though not IPA) this summer, and the occasional craft larger.
