I like Ford's 2005 lineup.

F series will be strong
Explorer will be strong
500's (they won't be able to make enough of them)
Freestyle (same as above)
Escape Hybrid will be strong
Excursion
Expedition
GT 🙂))
05 Mustang will be strong

Taurus will suffer, but they will price it to sell
Focus will do what it's done

i don't see how ford could NOT have a record year this year.

Judging by the sudden dropoff in Ford parts being ordered, I'd suggest otherwise. They are shutting down for two weeks next month, instead of the planned one week.

parts ordered? you mean to build? or for repairs?

ford 500 is the most boring car ever... i dont see how it's gonna compete with accords and such

the mustang will sell well though and so should the escape hybrid if they price it right

Accord pretty much has 'boring' covered.

I think the 500 will be excellent competition🙂

the thing is, there are a lot more car buyers my age than the age of a lot of you "ricers" out there talking about nissans, and wrx's and so forth.

to me and buyers like me, the ford 500 is a pretty attractive buy.

Parts as in items used to assemble vehicles. A few of my friends have really been complaining about the lack of sales all of a sudden. Apparently Ford is even telling them not to ship parts that they have already purchased.

i think a buick is still a more attractive buy and i'm only 24.

this will be taurus's last year.

i can understand that you are tired of them, but the taurus in the mid 90's saved Ford Motor Company.

ahh, so they are overstocked on parts. but that doesn't correlate directly with enduser sales, that just tells me how many ford cars are going to be available.

Ford tries to practice JIT inventory, though. This means that they keep very few parts on hand.

ya, that's what i meant and actually thought as i typed. but unfortunately my fingers did the talking. 😉

They don't make excursions any more.

Fords F series has been the best selling trucks for close to 30 years. No competition there

hmmm, check http://www.ford.com/ they still show the excursion as an 05 model.

a ford salesman told me the government forces them to continue to make excursions.

The 500 is mediocre at best. I'd rather have a Buick Lacrosse if I were going domestic in that price range.

It would smoke a 500 and looks better inside and out. It also has a DOHC 3.6 liter V-6, 240-hp/225 lb-ft

that's the same car as my Olds Intrigue. the 500 is way more spacious interior and trunk.

as to styling, i don't find the buick attractive inside or out at all. that's pretty subjective tho, so not sure why anyone would claim someone else should buy a car because of how they feel about subjective areas.

the 3.6 would be nice, but it's for my wife and she isn't really making that a buying point at all.

I"m looking at buying a 2005 Mustang GT Convertible in the spring. Best looking car in the price range, 25-30K, in my humble opinion.

The Lacrosse was featured in a recent C&D road test. It actually didn't look too bad. Decidely old school but not bad at all.

Edit - Forgot the damn link - Car and Driver

The 500 is bland. It has no personality from a styling point of view. I just passed one on the way into work this morning. I am a big fan of the new Mustang. I had a 97 GT 5spd Convertible not so long ago - and build quality was terrible... hopefully they do a better job of it this time around. I can't imagine that people are going to choose a Ford 500 over a Chrysler 300, Accord or even a Camry.... the Ford followers will.. but anyone comparison shopping probably won't IMHO. I know the 500 has AWD, unless you live in a place where it snows, I don't think thats even something that I would consider while buying a car....

I think Ford does best in the truck and SUV market and they should continue to focus in those markets to capitalize on their following. Rivals like the Nissan Titan are starting to offer some serious competition.

The 500 is great. The only one smoking anything is you. The Lacrosse is same old same old from GM.
