i like deep space 9 and voyager, will i like babylon5??

i was waiting for VOY dvd to come out, DS9 dvds were out so took a chance and ended up liking it. so far watched through4 seasons, and will collect em all. should i take another chance on getting the first season of babylon5?? i understand B5 and DS9 were in competition , so maybe its similar??

I like the story arc episodes.

It's a good show, it's not blindly optimistic like Star Trek. Stuff is dirty, people are greedy, it seems more like what it would really be like in 2400 or whenever it happens.

B5 is a lot darker than Trek. I've caught quite a few episodes when they were on Sci-Fi, but I've never considered collecting the DVDs. If I were you, I'd finish up my DS9 collection first. You still have 3 seasons to go, and you are only starting to get into the meat of the Dominion war.

Also, if you haven't watch Star Trek: The Next Generation, I would collect those DVDs before I collected B5. They are probably more expensive, and I'm probably biased, but I think that they would be worth it.

B5 is a bit darker, but it does have its lighter, fun moments. Season 1 is by far the weakest; the story arc really starts to take off during Season 2, and the quality of the episodes goes up noticeably. Overall, the entire series is excellent.

don't worry, i plan on fionishing up the DS9 seasons. kira looks sooo good on season 4. and dukat is hella funney

The premise of DS9 was stolen from B5. B5 was pitched to paramount and they passed, then went and made DS9...they really ended up being quite different though.

B5 is one my all time favorite shows I still catch repeats I've seen many times already every once in awhile.

Season 1 was the weakest...and probally had the most filler episodes, but it does set some of the storyline up.
Season 2 is when things start to pick up
3+4 (the best) is when the action really starts to get going, and mostly concludes. The show was planned as a 5 year series...but it was thought it might be canceled after the fourth season so alot of stuff was squeezed in and wrapped up.
Season 5- Because of stuff being squeezed into season4 this season is weaker than the others, both main storylines are already over, and the newer ones are weaker...plus personally I found a couple of the new chars annoying.

There were like 4 B5 Tv movies based on the original series.

One led into a new series, "Crusade" that lasted like half a season...it wasn't as good as orig...but it didn't really get a chance to get going.

There was also the sci-fi channel b5 movie/pilot "legend of the rangers". It went up against some football playoff game that got record ratings...and the movie didn't, so the series didn't get picked up.
