Tempers have been up around here lately so I think we need a giant car thread. Post links to pictures of your favorite cars, cool articles, tell us about your next mod, your dream car, whatever :)

I'll start: Soon I should get my daily driver (well normally) back from the repair shop with a fresh engine. I'm going to have to stay out of boost for a couple weeks though until I get about 800 miles on it, then it goes back to its regular diet of mobil one and 15psi of intercooled turbocharged, air :) I think while I wait though I"m going to have get some tires for some nice 16" wheels I have downstairs. I can either go with nice wheels and 225/45/r16 tires all around or new 205/65/r14 tires on my current nasty wheels but buy some koni struts.....Its a tough call :)

Yeah, why not. I'll jump on the bandwagon :)

Should be getting my engine back in my car in about 1-2 weeks (351 Clevo). It's getting rebuilt. Now need a new set of extractors (it's got bloody straws on it :( And hopefully a toploader this week, and a higher ratio diff possibly...depends how the money situation turns out :)

My car's an '89 Accord... Currently being repaired. :( Once I get it back, & once I'm out of debt, I'd like to pick up something different... Don't know what yet, but I'd like an Eclipse GSX.

Well, the logical side of me says that my favorite car is my current car, a 1988 Honda Accord LX-i. Of course I'd love to have an S2000, or one an original VW Beetle or Microbus. I also really like the new Mini that will be coming to the US next year.

My realistic dream car is the one that I'm getting in about a few weeks (waiting to get the $$ for the last payment). It's a '89 Shelby CSX. After I got into the Turbo Dodges, I started reading up on this thing. I found out that Shelby only produced 500 of them in 89 (the last and best year for them). So this car was the Holy Grail of Dodges in my eyes. So for kicks one day I started asking around to see what I could find for prices. Didn't find much, I mean, there were only 500 of these made and what percentage of that do you think are out of comission right now? Anyways, I kept looking around and found nothing, I even asked people across the country (I woulda payed to have it shipped...). Anyways, a day after I gave up I see a post on a mailing list stating "89 CSX for sale in Eastern MA" (I live in MA). This was it! So I arranged to meet up with him at take a look at it. Only 82K miles, and it in near mint condition. Great find for a great car :) (and I didn't have to even ship it! ;))

Car that I want, thats reasonably affordable would be a Nissan Silvia Spec-R. How bout yours? Keep in mind, reasonably affordable, like under $30k. And keep it to new cars too. :)

Can't get more affordable than $5500! ;)

Enough about my car, if I had to pick my overall dream car, It'd be either a Skyline GTR or a Porsche 911 (996) or a Viper GTS (too many choices!!). In the affordable range (under 30k) I'd have to go for Supra TT, 300ZXTT, or a slightly used Corvette :) And for my overall, I'll-never-own-one-of-these kinda car, a Lamborghini (any of them!!!) :)

Dear GM,
I am very upset at my car purchase. I recently bought a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am and although I am extreemly happy with the car itself, I am upset at how I was mislead about my purchase. After paying over $21,000 for this vehicle, I expected to have bought a car that would last me many years. However, much to my shock and dismay, only one week after purchasing my car, it stoped working completely. I had it towed to a mechanic where I was informed of the sheer magnitude of this scam. Not only did I have to pay over $21,000 for the car, but I was expected to constantly purchase something called "gasoline" to keep it working! At nearly $30 a time, I am expected to continue purchasing this liquid for the entire lifespan of the car!

I am disgusted and outraged! I bouht a car - not somehting I expected to continue costing me money every week! Why wasn't I warned at the dealership? This smells of a scam to me. In fact, I have not seen a scam of this magnitude since I purchased a computer only to find again I was expected to continually pay money for "the internet" - even after paying $3000 for my computer itself.

I hope to hear a reply soon,
Mr. Optimus

I hit the 128MPH rev limited on the truck the other day (again).

My brother has exceeded 165MPH in his car which he says he'll probably never do again.

haha, soybomb, thatcar u're getting sounds almost like my first car: a 1989 Merkur XR4Ti (German Ford, I4 turbo/non intercool, max boost at 14psi)

I currently drive a 96 VW Jetta VR6, one very very sweet car indeed, i'm starting to like VW

I'd been a german car driver all my life, and plan to keep it that way!

My dream car is the Bimmer M3 or the Audi S4 Avant, I'll drive one of those in.. oh.. 6-7 years or so...

after my Jetta I plan to go w/ the Audi A4 1.8TQuattro, then we'll see how this goes.. =)

Wow 165 is really moving, I've been up to about 120 and even though the road was a bit bumpy, even on a smooth one I think 140 and I'd be slowing down some! :)

atomic: Actually its a 1988 Dodge Daytona with Turbocharged I4! Non intercooled from the factory.....and at abou 9 psi from the factory too :) How was the merkur, I've never driven one. Any idea of its 1/4 time?

My car still sucks somewhat, but my friend is building a pretty crazy car after selling his '98 Integra GSR. A '95 Nissan 240sx (S14) with an awesome S15 Silvia front end conversion. Stock 155 HP engine now but a SR20DET (Nissan turbocharged I-4 FYI) is on the way. I'd be happy driving his car without the new engine though, it's one sweet looking ride IMO.

Ok, I have a 71 Oldsmobile and the next thing I want to buy is a set of Edelbrock aluminum heads. One day I would like to try a 150hp Nitrous kit but other then those two things I have just about every thing I want.

From the factory it was rated at 370HP and 500FT of torque at 3200RPM.

I will be going to the track as soon as it opens ( Mid March) and am looking for mid 12s with my new BFG radial drag TAs.
