The facts say you are ... Wrong.

And you need to correct the illegal part and state correctly Illegal in Some States.

Rereading your previous link I noticed this at the end of the law links for various states:

(Enforcement for failing to keep right while at or above the speed limit is variable. Toledo police have ticketed truck drivers for driving at the 60 MPH speed limit in the left lane. Police looking for criminal activity are aware of the "keep right" law and will use it as an excuse to stop a suspicious car. On the other hand, a New York judge announced that he would not convict drivers for blocking speeding traffic, People v. Ilieveski, 175 Misc. 2d 943; 670 N.Y.S.2d 1004 (Monroe County N.Y. 1998), and most police find speeding easier and more profitable to enforce.)

Congratulations, you found a judge who decided to legislate from the bench.

Come play in my state.

265:16 Drive on Right Side of Roadway; Exceptions. –
I. Upon all roadways of sufficient width a vehicle shall be driven upon the right half of the roadway, except as follows:
(a) When overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction under the rules governing such movement;
(b) When an obstruction exists making it necessary to drive to the left of the center of the way; provided, any person so doing shall yield the right of way to all vehicles traveling in the proper direction upon the unobstructed portion of the way within such distance as to constitute an immediate hazard;
(c) Upon a roadway divided into 3 marked lanes for traffic under the rules applicable thereon;
(d) Upon a city street designated and signposted for one-way traffic.
II. Upon all roadways any vehicle proceeding at less than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place and under the conditions then existing shall be driven in the right-hand lane then available for traffic, or as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway, except when overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction or when preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a private road or driveway.
III. Upon any roadway having 4 or more lanes for moving traffic and providing for 2-way movement of traffic, no vehicle shall be driven to the left of the center line of the roadway, except when authorized by official traffic control devices designating certain lanes to the left side of the center of the roadway for use by traffic not otherwise permitted to use such lanes, or except as permitted under I(b) hereof.

GTFO of the way. It's not your job to slow traffic.

I have an easy flow chart for drivers:

Are you driving under the speed limit? Yes - Move to the right, and preferably off a cliff
Are you driving the speed limit, but someone is on your tail? Yes - Move right
Are you driving faster than the right lane, but someone is on your tail? Yes - Move right
Are you driving at the max speed (person in front of you), go ahead and stay in the lane.

FFS people are fucking retarded. I hate passing on the right but I will fucking do it if some stupid environmentalist in their prius feels entitled to drive in the left lane just because.

Strong first post, but THIS.

If you're going to drive slow, it should be a rule to let others pass.

Honestly PCGeek. 1. Get the fuck out of the thread. You are useless to this conversation and your do-gooder attitude and your entitlement "glass half full" mindset. 2. Well there are a COUPLE of states who don't have move over laws SOOOOOOO I WILL NEVER MOVE OVER. 3. I hope you get run off the road.

1. No. I'm just as entitled to follow the law as you are to break it, actually more so.
2. Lots more than a couple, a couple = two. I never said I will NEVER move over, I perform this service for @ssholes that tailgate. If this is you too bad, suck it up.
3. That is a nice thought. Why would you wish this on someone, unless you are the self entitled @sshole?

This would be the speed limit correct? Speed limit = the maximum speed allowed on that road.

I think a lot of you reading the law are incorrectly interpreting what the " Center of the way " actually means. That is where the yellow lines are... Not the white dashed line between lanes of same direction traffic. On a divided Highway that would be the grass covered median between the opposing flows of traffic. Look it up.

You make it sound like I prowl the roadways looking for speeders to block. I only do this when somebody screams up on my tail and wants to hang there like a dingle berry. If you do this then you get what you deserve.

Anyway I would never want to go to NH, they suck. :)

Dude, give it up! Speedometers are given a 10% discrepancy. Justify your douchiness all you want, just move over. Normal flow of traffic is whatever conditions dictate; speed limits were imposed for when cars didn't have today's safety features. Why the hell do you think other countries have autobahns?

And no, the pile up is not directly caused by speeders, it's caused by speeders trying to avoid the obstacles that sit on an otherwise straight lane. And the biggest cause for traffics is because idiots gawk at the scene of accidents.

BTW, Jlee is a Highway Patrol man.

Most of the things you highlighted or posted to further justify the moronic actions, they're there to prevent an outright just-cause murder by someone who's pissed off at the rock that's driving the vehicle slowly on the fast lane.

As a model citizen and a careful driver, I'm sure you observe your surroundings, and pretty sure you'd have seen the driver that "screams up" at you. And I'm sure you have plenty of time to move over too, but you chose not to. Do you know why? Because you're an inconsiderate d-bag.

I think if you implement the death penalty for getting passed on the right, we'd have a lot more efficient highway system.

That is the funniest thing I have read in this thread yet! So if conditions are just right there is no limit... and if the speed limit is for when cars didn't have safety features then why don't they get rid of them and make the roads a free for all? You're going from dumb to plain old stupid with your unjustifiable position... :)

And no, the pile up is not directly caused by speeders, it's caused by speeders trying to avoid the obstacles that sit on an otherwise straight lane. And the biggest cause for traffics is because idiots gawk at the scene of accidents.

Keep believing this ...

BTW, Jlee is a Highway Patrol man.

Not a very good one if he promotes speeding. But of course most police officers drive like idiots anyway.
Why would I give a crap if he is a Highway Patrol Man?

Driving the Speed Limit is not driving slowly, it is driving the maximum limit allowed by law.

I never stated I was a model citizen.
I am a careful driver. I've driven for 40 years without an accident. How about you?
If I am driving the speed limit and a car screams up on my tail as in too close ( I think 3 car lengths is the accepted distance between cars ) Oh well. I move over when there is room and the driver behind me isn't being a self entitled @ss.

Keep it up. You amuse me. :)

What is messed up is these kids who tailgate and just see other drivers as shit in their way.. do that in their life outside the car too

Plus... they are trying to justify their actions and lie to themselves that they only do it on the highways etc.. bullshit.. they do it during rush hour or ANY time THEY are in a hurry... If the speed LIMIT is 35 and you are in the right lane doing 32-33.. VROOM on your ass...

What right do they have to continue to spread this type of attitude against others just because of automobile traffic.. imagine if they are police officers or citizens in a position of authority over others..

At what speed would you intentionally slow down another driver.. If the limit was 55 and they were doing 80? 65 and they were doing 90?

Citizens arrest is possible, right?

And by slow down you mean intentionally pull in front of them when you know they are going much faster than you? People who do that deserve to die in the car accidents they cause.

Another thing is that you shouldn't go in the right lane just to clear out the left lane. Actually LOOK if the lane is safe to go into. It happens all the time where I'm going the speed limit in the right lane and some retarded douchebag going way below the speed limit will go into the right lane and force me to slam on the brakes. I really hope they try that when it's an 18 wheeler in the right lane going the speed limit. A big truck can't slow down like my car, so the idiot would get creamed and probably die (I hope).

Forget slow lane. Anyone going slower than the speed limit should be killed (not including wide loads, tractors, farm equipment). Right lane is for the speed limit, left lane for people who feel like breaking the law. People going below the speed limit should not be on the road.

Limit? Do you drive the speed limit? Never over?

What is the limit?

Is there a different LAW per lane for how fast you can go.. your maximum speed.. the limit?

we can play this all day.. I am not saying people should be cool to drive 65 in the left lane when the max is 75... But when the limit is 55 or 65 and some person is on my ass trying to force me to drive over the limit.. I tap my brakes once.. if they don't get the hint I just slow to a crawl.. yep.. fun eh.. don't ride my ass.. the law is not on your side in that regard.. you stress people out with your lack of respect and holier than thou attitudes on the road

Every other car on the road is going 10-20% above the posted limit because that's effectively the law. The written law is what the sign says; the unwritten law is what you can get away with. You being the one and only car on the road going exactly the posted speed limit is dangerous.

If the limit is 65, I'm going 69 (where I set my cruise at) and I'm in the left lane passing a truck doing 60, flying up on my bumper and tailgating me won't make me go faster. I'll move over once I'm finished passing the truck.

Just saying.

That happens a lot, and its annoying. Even more when they start getting closer and closer when I'm almost passed the truck, almost like they want me to move out of the way really fast and cut off the truck. How about no...

That is because you owe them the road... IAW most of the speeders in this thread.

That is why I slow down when this happens.

What if you're the only one on the Road?

you stay in the right lane. Even if there are onramps. If people merged correctly they'd be at the speed limit getting on the road. During rush hours merge left as you approach them and then get back in the right lane as you pass them.

seriously, if one was just really passing a truck they wouldn't get tailgated.

What I see happens is the slowboat in the left lane tries to pass another vehicle that they easily could have waited to do.

They see someone approaching then look too far ahead to plan their lane change.

Get the fuck over, let the dude pass and then pass that truck 1/4 mile up the road. You will save yourself a ton of stress.

Well you with your quick wit should know driving about 10mph over the limit is a bit safer than the speed limit in reality.

But once you slow to 10mph or less under that limit you create a very serious danger that trickles down the highway.

Why do you need to be in the far left lane?

I usually am 10-15mph over. I still stay in the right most lane I can.

NOT.. there is no unwritten law.. Everybody is speeding so we should all do it? Then I will apply that "unwritten law" to every law I think helps me do w/e I want..

It is a limit.. don't fuck with anyone that doesn't want to speed...

^^^ that is what I am talking about and these kiddies in here that think that is acceptable deserve some swift Karma... they shit all over everyone in that same way they shit on people on the highways

the person who is dangerously riding your bumper could care less if you roll up in a ball of flames behind them when they pass you

The idiots in this thread are stuck in Fast and Furious hollywood where people don't really die or have real lives etc.. all those "other" cars out there just have robots driving them and they need to GTFO the way.. right? .. nice americans... such good hearted people

Dahunan, what you you don't realize is that you're stuck so far up your convoluted logic that you don't really see much else beyond its confine. If you can ever pull that head out of that convoluted hole of yours, you'll see whatever you're saying, applies directly to your behaviors.

We're not kids, first of all. And you're the cause of most of those "balls of flames", if you haven't realized it.

Ignorance, it is bliss, to some.

Some of you a-holes that purposely slow down, or you're "passing" a truck on cruise control... Ahhh fuck it. Go see a psychiatrist, there is something seriously wrong with you people that you just don't realize. That's possibly the thing best that I can hope you'd do one of these days, for your own good.

Maybe you missed how this all started..

Did I say drive slow in the left lane? Find it

But if I am in the right lane doing 63 in a 65 and you get close to my bumper to make me go faster .. then you might get more than a psychiatrist visit.. there is a law called "tailgating" guess it got tossed out when people started forgetting there is another human in the car in front of them

All I have been saying is there is a speed limit posted.. if a car is not speeding and is not in the far left.. then you better get the fuck away from them..

So, what is the speed limit in the left lane if the sign says 75?
So, what is the speed limit in the right lane if the sign says 75?

Well considering Speed Limits are arbitrary...

In the left only when you are passing.

In the right only when you are flowing with traffic. otherwise pick a sidestreet
