Unsafe speed for driving conditions means you're driving too fast for bad conditions or you're driving way below the speed limit (ie 30 in a 60 zone). You will never in your life get a ticket for going the exact speed limit in the left lane.

This is the truth. The Bologna posted about the " unsafe speed for current driving conditions " is just that. If you have a factual link to a law that says otherwise I'd love to read it.

I'd love to see the judges face when the officer tells him he was going the speed limit and holding up traffic. Ha!

That is why it is called a Speed LIMIT.

Slow vehicles to travel on right side

147. (1) Any vehicle travelling upon a roadway at less than the normal speed of traffic at that time and place shall, where practicable, be driven in the right-hand lane then available for traffic or as close as practicable to the right hand curb or edge of the roadway. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 147 (1).

Exception

(2) Subsection (1) does not apply to a driver of a,

(a) vehicle while overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction;

(b) vehicle while preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a private road or driveway; or

(c) road service vehicle. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 147 (2).

It is the law up here, I am sure there is a similar law in the US states.

In left lane for passing only states/areas you can get a ticket for doing the speed limit, but not passing someone.

Now, in all fairness, you will probably never see this ticket written as I'm sure the intent is to keep people doing speed limit - 10 out of the left lane, but it's a law on the book. At a minimum a cop could use it as an excuse to pull you over.

I find that people are so stupid and stay to the left all the time, I end up staying on the right and passing people even while just driving the limit. Everyone is so desperate to get into the left lane, they leave the right lane wide open for folks like me who really don't give a crap about being in front of the line. And I end up being in front of the line without even trying. Go figure.

Show me where it is illegal to drive the speed limit in the left lane... unless posted to stay in the right lane unless passing.

You're in Canada and you guys have some different rules up there... Meh.

But unless the law is Posted on a sign that states "slower traffic keep right" or anything like this, verbiage may vary by area. There is not a police in the USA that is going to pull you for doing the speed limit. It would be tossed out of court as soon as the Judge reads the facts.

It's called: Impeding the flow of other traffic

I'll leave this right here for you people:

http://articles.moneycentral.msn.co...rCar/left-lane-slowpokes-drive-you-crazy.aspx

and this:

http://www.mit.edu/~jfc/right.html

Well from this very article let me quote:

* Wyoming prohibits blocking the far left lane of a highway "for a prolonged period," though it adds that the traffic should be "at a lawful rate of speed."

* In Arkansas and South Dakota, vehicles don't have to stay right.

* In Alaska, Maryland, North Carolina and Ohio, vehicles can drive in the left lane so long as they're moving at the speed limit.

I'm sure if you read the tiny nuances of each states laws you will find lots of little exceptions. State by state it is is not a pure black and white issue.

IMO opinion as long as you are going the speed limit and it is not posted to stay right except to pass then it is free game. Some states such as Wyoming, Alaska, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Arkansas, and South Dakota ( to name a few ) concurs to some extent. I am sure there are others and they all vary some in the wording of the law.

Actually I am considerate of others, except when they are law breaking douch bags and I'm going the SPEED LIMIT when they tailgate me while trying to speed in excess of the LIMIT breaking two real laws " Following Too Close " and "Speeding". So yes Fuck Them and if you fall within these guidelines Fuck You Too. :)

I guess you win, I got nothing.

:)
But you still got a charming personality, don't forget. You're the most important person of your universe, isn't that worth something?

You know what I have observed? Most of the people that do asinine shits like this, they all lead pretty miserable lives. They feel as if they're gonna "lose" something if they act civilize towards other citizen. Fuking pathetic.

I have an easy flow chart for drivers:

Are you driving under the speed limit? Yes - Move to the right, and preferably off a cliff
Are you driving the speed limit, but someone is on your tail? Yes - Move right
Are you driving faster than the right lane, but someone is on your tail? Yes - Move right
Are you driving at the max speed (person in front of you), go ahead and stay in the lane.

FFS people are fucking retarded. I hate passing on the right but I will fucking do it if some stupid environmentalist in their prius feels entitled to drive in the left lane just because.

Care to explain your right to tailgate someone? You will get older and realize it is rude as hell. Why is it called a "limit"? Don't fuck with citizens who don't want to break the law.

This is what I have noticed driving up and down interstate 5 (a 4-lane highway meaning 2 lanes each way that goes on for hundreds of miles with an exit/entrance every few miles). When I come up behind someone, more often than not they'd see me coming from at least a mile away; most of the time people move over and I wave, then move on. Sometimes I get to where they are, stay well behind them for a few minutes, all the while waiting for them to grow some decency into their shit for brains and move over. But after about 5 minutes, I get tired of it and I creep up, finally they move over. Why? There's a perfectly good right lane that have cars in it that are moving at almost the same exact speed that they're traveling in.

So what ended up happen is that it only takes a few of these assholes on the road, and you'd end up with miles and miles of cars on the left lane. And at the beginning of every single one of these miles of cars, there's an inconsiderate asshole that's oblivious to anything else but him/herself. Do society a favor and just get off your self-righteous high horses.

Are you speeding more than 5 MPH over the limit?

If yes, then you need to slow down. Also this would apply: " Do society a favor and just get off your self-righteous high horses."

If no, then you have a valid complaint. I never travel in the left lane and go less than the speed limit ( unless some @ss starts to tailgate. Then I make an exception just for them )

Did you ever wonder what causes these massive 20 car pileups on the road. Here it is for you: Speeding, Following too close and not paying enough attention.

Or a self righteous douche purposely blocking in cars behind him cus he feels like he needs to police the road and create ILLEGAL, unsafe driving conditions.

The facts say you are ... Wrong.

And you need to correct the illegal part and state correctly Illegal in Some States.

Rereading your previous link I noticed this at the end of the law links for various states:

(Enforcement for failing to keep right while at or above the speed limit is variable. Toledo police have ticketed truck drivers for driving at the 60 MPH speed limit in the left lane. Police looking for criminal activity are aware of the "keep right" law and will use it as an excuse to stop a suspicious car. On the other hand, a New York judge announced that he would not convict drivers for blocking speeding traffic, People v. Ilieveski, 175 Misc. 2d 943; 670 N.Y.S.2d 1004 (Monroe County N.Y. 1998), and most police find speeding easier and more profitable to enforce.)

I'm glad you immediately assumed I tailgate people. I said "on your tail." Personally I hate tailgaters just as much as you douchebags who go the speed limit or lower in the passing lane.

Personally I always maintain a respectable distance as soon as I realize they are going slowly. Sometimes that means I come up on them a bit fast, but I always maintain a very good distance.

So kindly go fuck off.

Edit: Honestly PCGeek. Get the fuck out of the thread. You are useless to this conversation and your do-gooder attitude and your entitlement "glass half full" mindset. DERP DERP WELLLLLL there are a COUPLE of states who don't have move over laws SOOOOOOO I WILL NEVER MOVE OVER. I hope you get run off the road.

On the west coast, pretty much every multi-lane highway has signs about staying right.
I drive 5-10 over on the highway.
I stay in the right lane unless I'm passing.
If I'm left to pass and see someone coming up on me, I move right as soon as I have an opening.
I don't tailgate.
I don't cut people off.
I don't swerve in and out of traffic.
If you box me in because you're a self-righteous asshole who wants to play Highway Patrol and force me to do the speed limit, you don't deserve to be driving. You are in the wrong. The fact that I'm breaking one law doesn't give you the right to break another. I'll quietly comment on what a shitty driver you are, but I won't endanger your life or mine just because you don't understand traffic flow. Eventually I'll have an opening and I'll be on my merry way... until then though... fuck you.

Just because I speed doesn't mean I'm tearing ass around the freeway and being a danger to other drivers, so get off your fucking high horse and let me by.
