Fixed for you.

Its not self-entitled if you follow the rules for people driving faster than you. I try my best to get out the way of faster drivers and gauge speed before changing lanes, because if you change lanes and the person behind you needs to brake you're fucking doing it wrong.

And guess what? If you're sitting in the far left lane and you're consistently getting passed on the right, you need to move over. Most of the time when I look over at the driver in this case, they give me a look like I just curb stomped their cat.

also note it does not say:

'unless you are going the speed limit'
'unless you are going 'fast enough''
'unless people are tailgating you'

if you aren't passing someone, you should not be in a left lane. even if you are going 80 or 120. get. over. you are impeding the proper flow of traffic.

I have an easy flow chart for drivers:

Are you driving under the speed limit? Yes - Move to the right, and preferably off a cliff
Are you driving the speed limit, but someone is on your tail? Yes - Move right
Are you driving faster than the right lane, but someone is on your tail? Yes - Move right
Are you driving at the max speed (person in front of you), go ahead and stay in the lane.

FFS people are fucking retarded. I hate passing on the right but I will fucking do it if some stupid environmentalist in their prius feels entitled to drive in the left lane just because.

Perfect. A copy of that should be printed on the center of every steering wheel.

Agreed, though you probably shouldn't be driving at 120 mph in any case.

the roads in NoVA much be much better then the ones in western NY i drive in the left lane even if i'm the only car on the road simply because the right lane is like driving on rail road tracks

Now I'm not saying staying right isn't the right thing to do (pun). However if you're left, and you're consistently getting passed on the right, then pulling to the right is going to impede the flow of traffic on the right and people are going to get pissed off just the same.

Moral of the story, you, as a driver, need to be aware of proactive of your driving situation at all times. If you see a car that's moving slow that appears to have no intention of leaving the lane, then don't be an asshat and ride the person's bumper... move yourself the fuck over and be on your merry way. It's not like cars just jump out of nowhere when they're in front of you (usually).

And here I thought this thread was some kind of subtle comment on socio-political preferences!

In SoCal everyone camps out in the left lanes. Frequently you can make better time in the right hand lanes on the freeway (we're talking hundreds of miles of 4-5 or even 6 lane freeways here).

My issue with some of the drivers that do stay in the right hand lane, is that they juke 2-3 lanes at the last instant to make that left hand turn. Look, get your ass over well before you need to turn. Cutting people off, and wedging yourself in to a lane forcefully, causing others to have to brake hard, because you waited too long is bullshit.

And if I am going the speed limit or over, you can kiss my ass. I'll stay wherever I feel I need to be at that time. Your problem with an aggressive behind the wheel driving style is not my concern. Slow the fuck down, or leave earlier to get where you are going. Because if 5 over just is not cutting it for you, go fuck your self-entitled....umm....self.

To continue, for those with the "if everyone is passing you on the right" Listen, you want to go 75 in a 55? Lobby to change the law, again, it is not my concern that you have a behavioral problem when you get behind the wheel.

And yes, I would characterize not being able to stay within 5 of the posted speed a behavioral problem. One I am not inclined to facilitate. Consequently, I will be wherever I feel I need to be in traffic. So shove your personal version of proper driving etiquette up your ass.

right, because driving 60 in a 55 when everyone else is driving 70 is 1) not breaking the law, 2) much safer than driving with the flow of traffic.

Wow.

Sorry you have to obey your almighty gov. no matter what is going on around you. If you are going 60 in a 55 with people tailgating you and passing you on the right (which will be the case 100% of the time in NJ at least), YOU are at fault and are risking lives by being a complete idiot.

What do you think happens when cars going 75-85 (which should be all of them in the left lane) approach you going 60? They all have to hit their brakes. And whenever brakes have to be hit on a well flowing highway you are risking an accident. Its not the people's fault for going 80, its yours for going 60.

And I will pass you in the brake down lane if I have to.

I have news for you. Arbitrary outdated speed limits set back when cars still had wooden wheels make just as much sense as the war on drugs. You want to punish speeders because you think you are better than them? Go become a cop. Otherwise, stop creating hazardous driving conditions for others just because you think you are right.

You are a shitty driver and I hope you lose your license/car somehow.
