I know this question is entirely too standard but...

I use iGoogle as my homepage, and the past few evenings, there have been intermittent periods where I can't access Google, iGoogle, or any searching. Gmail works, as do docs, maps, and other services...

I've tried clearing cookies, and using ie 7 as well as firefox... both with the same result.

is this it possible that the site has been going down for periodic mainanence? Seems unlikely to me.

I'm pretty sure the problem doesn't exist between the keyboard and the chair, but if I'm wrong, please inform me!

can anyone else get on google right now?

Just remember, Google can never crash or disappear, or not work, ever. When the machines take over, Google will be one of the very few sites that are still on the human side.

It's their classic load balancer/content switch problems. They need to fix their crap.

That's kind of useless. You'll be redirected to somewhere else anyway so using layer3 tools doesn't do much.
