Well i have just gone down with a cold, it has got progressively worse over the last 24 hours. (God damn runny nose all the time :|)

Ok here is the weird thing or atleast i think it is odd. My neck for some reason seems to be stiffening up. Basically i can feel the strain on the left and right sides of my neck.

Now as far as i can remember i have never suffered such a symptom, be it a symptom or whatever. The thing is i was involved in a car accident a while ago where a van driver went into the back of my car, and i suffered a very slight case of whiplash. Something i didn?t bother following up with an insurance claim even though i could have. Now i am wondering as i don?t know much about whiplash, whether there is some sort f long term effects, and this cold has some hoe tapped into it and brought back some pain?

Has anyone else suffered this, with just a normal cold. You know sore throat, cough, runny nose etc etc?

Its got quite bad through the day, I don?t know if I should be worried about it , that?s all. It?s quite painful though.

You have bacterial meningitis. I'm not really a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Hell, I got muscle aches from a common cold. Your body releases endorphins that make everything sensitive. If they pain is in back of the neck I wouldn't be worried. You likely pulled a muscle or slept on it wrong and the cold is making it feel twice as worse.

Usually a fever (some times severe) would follow from an infection like meningitis and believe me you wouldn't be able to get out of bed if you had it. But funny none the less lol at the holiday inn joke!

Muscle aches and swollen lymph nodes are fairly common with quite a few things that have cold symptoms.

Thanks guys. Reassuring words from you all. Except a few :p

Well I guess I?ll leave it for now, and just ride out the cold and hope for the best :D

Regs: It is in the back of my neck, and I did leave the window open all night whilst sleeping last night. Its not exactly warm over here so there would have been a cold brease.

Hopefully I don?t get one of those annoying husky coughs during the next few days, that I am usually prone to. I?m going on stag do in Prague next week so I need to be in tip top condition :D

I knew a guy who had symptoms just like yours, and he thought it was just a cold and blew it off, but ended up dying of penis cancer. You might want to get that checked out.

I always get a stiff neck with a cold. I wouldn't be worried. Take some tylenol and sleep it off, you'll be good as new in a day or two.

I had that last week, it went away in about 3-4 days. Swollen glands....nothing to fear.

Half of my face is numb, now that scares the sh!t outta me.

That was actually the first thing that occurred to me - maybe it's because I just attended a class called "Anatomy for Lawyers"!
