im installing a USR 56k modem ..the problem is the modem will NOT release the line unless i unplug or reboot the computer
running windows xp sp1/a7n8x-vm

this is driving me crazy.help! suggestions?!?!?!?

are you using mfg's software or just their drivers? Have you tried switching PCI slots?

it says im disconnected but the modem is still sending a signal thru the line.
this is for a lady who getting verizon in two weeks

bmac tried all 3 avail pci slots,even removed the sound card, same deal....

update drivers? can you get on console and try to dial up and kill connection that way?
