Is there like a suicide pill available for the worst case scenario? What has recently brought this to mind is the missing 777 plane. I'm sorry, but I would rather take myself out than to drown, be eaten by a shark or have to jump off a burning building (i.e. 9-11) or whatever. So if heaven forbid the worse happens is there some pill you could take to take yourself out?

1. Most hijackings aren't of the 9/11 flying-bomb type

2. 777 was most likely the pilot(s), not sure how you would accomplish that.

3. Human nature does not involve putting yourself into harms way. That usually has to be trained into you (police, fire, military, etc)

Ricin is a pretty slow death - it basically is like getting the flu but you never recover.

Even if it weren't, the liability for manufacturing a OTC suicide pill would be ridiculous.



Also, I'm pretty sure drowning is less painful than cyanide.

this, the vast majority of toxins are quite slow acting or just ridiculously hard to get your hands on. Potassium cyanide is quick acting (as long as you aren't popping antacids) and has several commercial applications so it's relatively easy to find.

A method of suicide offered to U-2 pilots was a small glass ampule called the "L-pill" containing liquid potassium cyanide. Putting the pill in the mouth and biting down would cause death in 10 to 15 seconds, but most pilots chose to not take the "L-pill" with them.
