how exactly do you fax via computer? I have paper scanned..I have bitware installed...I have printer installed....I have literrally everything, and it still won't do.
Ok, here are some of them problems I ran to..
1. I scan all the papers and save as jpeg file, when I attach the file to bitware and click fax, it pops up a message "no associated software to convert it into a fax document"
2. Ok, so I save them as bitmap file (16 colors only since I am still a 56k user)..this time it doesn't pop up that message again, but then it initiate the printer and intend to printer the image...WTF! Isn't it supposed to begin dialing the number?
3. I am going to fax this internationally (my dad lives in Singapore)...I am using a prepaid calling card....this complicates everything as I am not so sure whether I can fax documents via a prepaid calling card or not..
Help needed! Bump needed too 🙁

I have very little experience with this, but about that printer thing popping up, when you fax it with your computer, what it does is it prints TO THE FAX...

so when i did it, i installed the fax thing as a printer or something, then when i printed it, i selected the fax as the printer to print to, then it got sent through the program.

hope this helps

I've used Bitware in the past (bundled with modems) and I always remembered it to SUCK!! It worked but it was flaky.

The only advise I can offer is to try something more reliable such as Symantec WinFax Pro. I'm using version 10 and have used it since it was marketed by Delrina, it's somewhat robust and hasn't let me down. Here's a place that has the OEM version for $19.95, if you search around you might be able to find it cheaper: WinFax Pro 10

I seem to recall the error that you're running into but I can't remember what was causing it; I would make sure that your modem is setup properly and working. It helps to have a good reliable fax/modem (ala U.S. Robotics or 3Com) although the error you descibe sounds like a s/w issue; I found out the hard way how some "Winmodems" simply don't function very well when attempting to fax documents...

I forgot, you mentioned in your post how to fax a document. With WinFax Pro, you simply drag your document to a WinFax Pro Drag & Drop Depot icon on your desktop and it automatically sets up for a fax session. It's a pretty decent and powerful fax program worthy of having if you plan to send/receive a lot of faxes using your PC...

can Winfax covert JPEG file into fax document? that was the problem with bitware.
I just reinstalled bitware a moment ago, and now it doesn't initiate the printer anymore...since I have to fax by using a prepaid calling card, I choose manual tramission...for a second, I thought I succeed....after like 2 min..it went disconnected....think I will have to check with my dad then

Does your father have access to email? If so then you could email it to him, his office or one of his friends with a computer and email and then they could print it out for you.
