The saggy pants thing is just plain stupid. Its as dumb as the rims, its as dumb as the bling. What happens when you need to run for your life or chase after someone? Your stupid gay ass droopy pants will trip you up. How retarded is that? Its stupidity stands on its own, there is no need to invoke god.
So what if it's stupid? Does that justify legislation?

If so...
“Seeing the young boys with pants hanging down, having to walk wide-legged, holding their pants up to keep them from falling down—now it’s gotten real bad,” Goodman said. “It’s something I couldn’t take no more.”
We ought to do something about this too. I can no longer abide such terrible grammar. Perhaps some time in a correctional facility will remove the blight of impure speech from his tongue, and thus no longer offend my ears.

everyone i have asked that question to has ignored it. They wont answer because they know what their answer would be and that gets too close to bursting the bubble.

If the roles were reversed and black people and black culture was the winning culture on this planet would you act black to get some kind of economic stability? Or would you stay with your roots and keep your white culture?

Assimilation into the host nation tends to lead towards economic prosperity and an easier life.
The Europeans all took their various cultures and nationalities and embraced the melting pot that was America.
We don't have to persist as a nation divided.

Or they won't answer because it's an impossible question to consider. You might as well ask somebody to imagine themselves as black in today's America as to imagine themselves as a minority in a predominantly black country where racial roles were the reverse of what they're accustomed to. I mean, let's face it, white people already do engage in cultural appropriation of black culture, primarily through music and entertainment; you think white suburban kids listening to Wiz Khalifa, wearing FUBU and calling each other "n***a" aren't taking on some piece of black culture? The problem is that it's really hard to imagine a world where cultural norms that we take for granted are entirely inverted; who can honestly say how they'd react growing up in a world where everything we know about modern culture was different? It's a useless thought exercise that's impossible to realistically answer.

You mean like when the Italians, Irish, Russians, Poles, Chinese etc. formed their own little ethnic enclaves in each city?

I mean, I think you can look at one million men born in the Middle East, of Middle Eastern parents with Middle Eastern heritage, and you won't find a single case where the man looks anything other than Middle Eastern.

It's simply amazing. I guess an ugly Jesus was a non-starter for the organizers.

its not impossible at all.

You might as well ask somebody to imagine themselves as black in today's America as to imagine themselves as a minority in a predominantly black country where racial roles were the reverse of what they're accustomed to.

thats the reason I asked the question. I only framed it in a way easier for them to understand.

I mean, let's face it, white people already do engage in cultural appropriation of black culture, primarily through music and entertainment; you think white suburban kids listening to Wiz Khalifa, wearing FUBU and calling each other "n***a" aren't taking on some piece of black culture?

absolutely they are. As are most pop music constructions and jazz and lots of food. That is a testament to how strong that culture is.

The problem is that it's really hard to imagine a world where cultural norms that we take for granted are entirely inverted; who can honestly say how they'd react growing up in a world where everything we know about modern culture was different? I dont agree. What Im asking them to do is put themselves in the shoes of a black person growing up in black culture and then being expected to act white to have a good job.

And that doesn't strike you as an impossible question to answer? Everyone is the product of the environment they were raised in, including the culture behind it. Asking people to discard the entirety of that and make guesses as to what their life would be like with a completely different set of environmental factors driving their thought process is an impossible question. No one can reasonably know how they would respond to those drastically different circumstances. All we can do is listen to the stories and experiences of people who did grow up with those circumstances and assume that it's pretty likely we would find ourselves feeling similarly had we lived that same life. But that requires a tremendous amount of empathy, and if someone is already content to believe that "black culture" is inherently inferior, I don't think they have an abundance of empathy to devote to a thought exercise like you're proposing.

empathy is what I'm trying to pull out of people. They can answer the question but it requires them to look at some uncomfortable truths and they choose to just ignore it rather then deal with those. We arent sheep or cows. We can imagine how something could be and how we would react in that environment.

It is very important for people who feel worthless to know the truth. It gives them a sense of self importance and offends every other person with the same need to attack them for whatever their opinion is. This is why I have had to step in here and straighten all of you out. Only those who have no opinion about pants or anything else know anything. It is the fanatic who knows things, who has the certaintyof truthiness.

Is that what I said? No. The question is for you as well. Would you take on black cultural norms because they are the norms that would allow you, a minority, to fit in? Or would you continue your white traditions and cultural legacy.

The context of my question seemed to be missed. You seem to think that "white" culture is winning because of I guess luck, and "black" culture is losing because of bad luck. You believe that white culture is holding down blacks. Is that inherent to white culture, or a culture "winning"?

To answer your question, I would no do either of your options, but do what I do now. That is to say, I will speak my mind and do what I think is right. That is the reason I have been called racist, and a race apologist. I get called a liberal who hates freedom, and a conservative who hates the poor.

I don't pick a culture. I live my life the way I see fit.

I have a sister that is 1 year younger than I am. When we were in Junior High, she had a black friend who was going to have to move because her crack head mom was getting kicked out of her apartment. The girl was heart broken to have to leave all her friends. My mom offered to have the girl live with us and stay in the school with all of her friends. Her mom said fine and moved to the next town over.

After living with us for about a year, she started getting shit from some of her friends. By now she was a cheerleader and a 4.0 student. She was walking home crying. I asked her what was wrong, and she said she did not fit in anywhere. Her black friends said she was trying to be white by living with a white family, got good grades, and was a cheerleader on a team that was mostly white. Her white friends said she acted too ghetto. She did not want to stay in the school, but what else could she do? She could go live with her crack head mom, or stay with us and stay in the same school. Her black friends ended up talking shit and stopped being friends with her. Her white friends did not stop being friends with her, and eventually just stopped caring about her "ghetto" things. Both are shitty, but one is worse.

So I gave her my opinion and said fuck them all. Find people that don't care about roles and culture. She was smart, driven, attractive and could do anything she wanted. So, she pretty much did that. She did and said things and did not care. The people that stuck around accepted her, and that was that. The girl ended up getting a Yale law degree and married a Biologist. Her sisters are in and out of Jail, and I think her mom is nowhere to be found.

Point is, she did not follow a culture, and just lived her damn life just like I do. But, if I had to say which culture on the whole was better white vs black, I am going to say white in terms of economic success. There are a crap ton of factors that go into that, and I don't think that black culture is bad because black people are stupid or bad. I just think that their culture holds back their people.

Black people and the things they went through cant really be compared to other races. They were not the only slaves, but by far had the worst time of it. They were not the only group to deal with racism, but by far have had it the hardest from what I see. That does not detract from the fact that "black" culture, in what ever that may mean, is holding back many of the people that are part of it.

Black people are being killed by far more black people than anyone else, and its not because they are too dumb or poor to stop killing each other.

Because it's a bloody miracle all right?

He was immune to the sun's rays as well.

"God" wears pants?

Well I kind'a thought that guy's holier than thou comment was being rather sexually discriminatory myself.

Everybody knows he wears a plaid skirt and beret and accessorizes that outfit with bagpipes. ;)

Maybe because Jesus being born of a Jewish mother and raised around Jewish people in Jewish lands just wasn't as appealing to a western european discipline hard-selling Christianity.

Apparently re-branding as a sales tactic goes way way back in history. ;)

Looking at images of bible characters and the holy land from different centuries and places is fun. Jesus and Mary tend to look like the people who drew them and the holy land tends to look a lot like an idealized version of the local neighborhood.

Yes, when my daughters can see a grown mans underwear walking around the mall? That needs legislation. As a father that is my opinion. And yes I would feel the same if women did this, but they have enough sense not to. So far.

Women have been routinely showing their underwear in public for years and years now. (whale tails, hello?) Can you explain your lack of enthusiasm for legislation until this moment?
