If you haven't seen it before its even more powerful if you know the background of the characters and/or scene the entire episode.

Yes I realize this is another Scrubs thread.
Yes I realize this episode is like 4 years old.

Just watch

My favorite episode of Scrubs.

Edit = In a dramatic/award winning sense of way. I don't like death.

Eh, I've always found those kinds of situations VERY cliche among shows. The abused emotional/emo/poser song doesn't help...

In short: Cringe. Cringe cringe cringe....

I like the episode where his friend dies of cancer. I teared up at the end when they zoom out and it is the guys funeral and not his sons birthday.

I agree, Scrubs does have some great dramatic scenes that usually end up bringing tears to my eyes. In college I got my roommate hooked on Scrubs and we just finished a sad episode like that - we couldn't call it a night on the sad episode, had to pick a funny one to bring the spirits back up :)

Also agree on Brandon Fraser's (SP) funeral & dying of leukemia - that was another strong one.

The other one that comes to mind is in "My Philosophy," when a transplant patient JD grew attached to dies. They did a musical at the end, because that is how she envisioned life after death.

Oh, and I thought of another: "My Old Lady" where the old woman from Desperate Housewives plays a an old lady who is ready to die, feeling she's accomplished everything she wanted in her life and doesn't want to do dialysis.

Great show. Too bad they fucked it up in the later seasons.

The episode where Dr. Cox's brother dies was one of the few things on TV that's ever choked me up. The last 5 minutes are genuinely heartbreaking. I DON'T usually get jerked around by cliched TV depictions of sad deaths, but it was done exceptionally well in that episode and it just worked.

except this isnt a drama show where this happens every other week. Its a comedy and when you get used to characters being hilarious 99% of the time it makes the sad parts amazing (for lack of a better term)

edit* ah, realized who said that. Nevermind.

Scrubs, IMO, has some of the most poignant moments on television. I think it consistently balances its bulk of comedy and occasional drama marvelously. I too get caught up in the tear jerker moments, and i'm not really one to do that. I'm really bummed the show is canceled.

Scrubs FTW

Scrubs is the most boring show in the world. My roomate dislocated his knee and watched all the seasons that were out as of last year. I laughed twice total the whole entire time.

I think that the episodes following this one were more meaningful, showing how Cox dealt with the deaths and then how everyone dealt with Cox.

Touching.

That sequence gets to me, but I think it's more poignant when taken in context with the entire episode.

Even though I was spoiled before the first time I watched it, the last Brendan Frasier episode always makes me cry.
