Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what to start with? I have no idea how to overclock or anything related to it. I want to get a i7 930 and try to overclock it a bit, but I'm kinda scared I might break something. Feedback is appreciated.

Props for actually wanting to learn how to overclock instead of using someone else's settings and coming on the forum because your crashing all over the place.

That's a horrible horrible guide in my opinion. Since your new to overclocking I much recommend starting on this one http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=47089

That guide is based on the old FSB system. There are some differences with overclocking a Nehalem system, but nothing that big. CPUz is a must, download that and have a look around.

Really the biggest resource you have is yourself. If a settings makes something unstable ask yourself what is happening. A lot of people get excited and just start pushing clocks up on every component;however, if you are attempting to push as much out of your setup as possible you should find the max speed of each component individually. I believe the guide should cover that.

After reading those guides I really think a new one should be written. The C2Q one can be superfluous at points, and the Nehalem is written terribly with large amounts of unnecessary information.

Hah, I didn't actually read it, but I did skim through it. I thought it was kind of weird, but I assumed since it got stickied, it might be worth reading.

Anyways, I did a quick google for i7-920 overclocking and found a few guides.

The first one is quite long, but it looks thorough. I'd probably take a look at it first.

Intel Core i7-920 Overclocking Guide - xbitlabs.com

How Overclocking Works on the Core i7
Gigabyte's Core i7-920 Overclocking Tutorial

I hope you find them useful OP.

First thing you need to do is get a taser or a cattle prod. You'll need these to up your CPUs voltage. Once you zap your CPU, they tend to fall in line.
