Hey so I'm working on my first build and loving it and I got the power all setup and turned my computer on and I entered the BIOS it recognized everything I believe so now do I just need to pop in my windows CD or are there things that I need to do in the BIOS before that?

Nope... You may in the future want to tweak some settings when you learn about them, but if the computer booted and recognized everything, enjoy!

I'd take a look at your settings if I were you.

There's a site called rojakpot.com that has a lot of info on BIOS.

google "how to build computer" and you'll find free picture tutorials.

Wiring is simple enough because the connectors only go in one way.

As long as your CD is bootable, just put it in the drive and wait for the prompt "press any key to bood from CD". Take it from there.

Now, if you are using an IDE drive to boot, do as suggested above.

If you are using a SATA drive, make sure you load the necessary SATA drivers while installing windows. Just put such drivers on a floppy disk and press F6 when the windows setup is just starting!

Do not underestimate the computer newbs out there.

Some student brought their computer to one of my teacher's classes for him to look at it.
The student managed to put in a ram stick in the opposite direction and locked it in, thus probably destroying that slot.
